We had a frost again in the SOFT SOUTH?…..went out to see if I could see any signs of life, and this is what I came across….
My first camellia bloom…..
And look at the buds on this one, this is a lovely striped camellia, worth the long wait, don’t you think?

Wow,those are lovely. We,up north, are much further behind here, especially with the severe winter, but mine has more buds on this year than ever,so something to look forward to.Probably because they got plenty of moisture in our "summer climate"...

A lovely reminder that it wont be long now. January seems to start at Christmas making it feel a long time. February is nice n' short.

Like they all say sign spring not to far away.

think you're still the 'soft south' (Ive friends in sussex lol ) to have gorgeous cammelias out already! mine are still really tight and even the snowdrops are hardly poking through rollon spring...

How lovely , I haven't anything like that yet just tight buds .............

And mine! Lovely signs of spring. :-))
Heron - thanks for that - it's a cheering thought!

What a gorgeous sight DD ...nothing like that up here of course. Just had a look at my smaller one which is in a huge pot in the sitootery - with 14 buds - still tightly packed!!
The big one outside is covered in very tight buds - despite the sod-awful weather .
Roll on March...our forecast is for icy roads and blizzards from Friday.
Feb, is of course known in the old proverb as "February fill dyke, be it black or be it white"...so we never look for much improvement in that month...brrrr.

lovely to see the awakening in your garden...mine are showing signs of opening sometime soon...

Whey hey, taste of things to come.
Mine still tight buds in the southwest but as Bloomer said "lots of them"
Yep Dots. worth the wait!

Lets hope it is a sign of a nice long hot summer, followed by an Indian summer/autum....:o))))

lovely to see :), as everyone else, no sign of mine yet

Beautiful flower, DD. Lots of buds on my pink camellia but nothing opened up yet. My white one has flowered and been caught by the frost yet again :( I am considering moving it to a more sheltered spot. I also bought a 'reject' at the garden centre last year that has splodgy flowers, a few buds on there too :)
It is lovely to have something to look forward to.

Gee sorry your white one got caught, they can be difficult plants to site, Mushy you don't want much do you lol.
Valadel and Grindle glad you like it, hope it will open some more over the weekend.
BB so it should be open, we are in the south, not that you would know it!!!
Alz and Sandra yours will be lovely when mine has upped and gone......
Pam Amy and Spritz I am hoping this is a sign of Spring, but as well all know February can be a treacherous month.
Thanks Megan, Bloomer will look forward to seeing yours in flower,
TT Sanbaz and Fressia get Feb out of the way as Heron says a short month, and away we go.
Lincs Clarice and Amy it was a welcome sight.....
Wet again today, never two days the same is it? reading the weather reports we are not the only country to have suffered a bad winter, France, Poland, Germany, all far worse than us, some consolation?

I know how they are feeling....it is snowing like stink right now up here in the NE of Scotland - and a dreadful forecast for the weekend with blizzards and heavy snow due....hope they got it wrong - if not - I'm off back to the fireside, folks!!
28 Jan, 2010
Alz rather you than me, it is very cold here, just hoping the forcast is wrong, don't want any more snow thanks.
