Recently I was telling my daughter how I had loads of plant labels and nowhere to put them. If I leave them next to the plant they get moved by goodness knows who (Chloe? Tortoises? Wind? Things that go bump in the night?) Who knows? If I put them inside my numerous plant books they fall out. I have also noticed that lots of GoYers talk of lost labels so I think its part of MSSS (Missing Single Sock Syndrome).

Yesterday evening my daughter called round with a present she had made for me -

I hasten to add that the picture on the front is not me! It looks like someone who has lost ALL her labels!!

Inside there were lots of colourful pages -

On each page there is a pocket…..

…just the right size for plant labels, two or more to a page. On the opposite side there is plenty of space to write information about the plant, where and when bought, where planted, care, etc.

I have already started using it but have warned my daughter that I may need a second edition!!

Its nice to get any pressie but especially one thats been made with thought attached! I have a gardeners journal from "paperchase" which is great as it has lots of different pockets and I chart where I have put each plant in my Square Foot Garden so I can keep a sort of rotation each year.

What a great idea, where did your daughter get it from.

Hi Clarice. My daughter made the book. She is into crafts and makes all her own cards (and lots for other people!) Recently she obtained some new gadgets and now makes booklets etc. I saw something similar in a craft shop recently but they wanted £16 for it!!

Wonderful Gee , I spend ages looking for lost labels , usually well and truly dug in by the next season ..
What is so special is that your daughter made it with a great deal of thought just for you .... :o)

Ha, ha. I'm a crafter myself, hun and your wonderful daughter has used a Bind it All to put your book together. :o)

I'm well impressed and what a lovely gift for her to have given you. I have made many books like this but never thought of one for gardening. What a great idea.

My plant labels are all over the place. I need something organised like this! That's a brainwave your daughter had!

The book is being well used - trouble is I think I need another one as I found a load of labels stuffed at the back of a drawer! I'm sure she will oblige, bless her. A simple option I suppose would be a scrap book with a large strong envelope stuck on each page :)
