Last Sunday our village had the annual Open Garden Day, with ploughman lunches and cream teas being served in the village hall. It was a lovely sunny day so my friend and I set forth; I was armed with my camera of course. There was lots to see……

I forgot to mention, some gardens had plants for sale so I did come back with one or two and also with a promise of others when it was time for dividing up :)

What a lovely day you had, and some great photos to remember it by.
I admire your reserve. I think I'd have come home with more than 'one or two' plants...LoL
Yes, it's nice to go out, but it's just as good to get home again. I hope you had a nice refreshing cuppa when you put your feet up.

It would be nice if more villages did something like that. It sounds friendly. I'm glad you enjoyed.

...and why didn't you open your garden. Gee??

lol. I'm only teasing. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wish our local village did this. A lot of villages in West Somerset do.

It was a good day, Clarice. It's a pity towns don't do it, just several streets could get together, couldn't they?

Well, Spritz, I have chickened out in previous years, various excuses, garden too small, not too good with strangers (shy!), will the tortoises do a runner while the gate is open, etc, etc. I finally decided I would do it this year and then the back fence collapsed and is held up with string! Not a pretty sight. My lovely son in law is going to put up a new one for me and I had hoped it would have been started by now but only got as far as measuring. Not a simple job as there needs to be a brick block base built to put the fence on (and that means building down the side of the surface water drainage ditch that runs along the outside of the fence). So, once again, I opted out! Next year.....

Oh, dear me! What a palaver to put up a new fence! I hope he gets it done before all the wild life of Kent descend on you...I remember the so-called ghostly black panther that was supposed to be hanging about on Bluebell Hill...so watch out, Gee!

I can quite see why you couldn't open your garden too. As you say - next year?? If it's up by then?? lol.

Oh don't say that, Spritz. There's holes at the bottom of the fence where it's bowing and breaking up, all the posts are rotten because often the ditch is full of water, and the blue rope holding everything up is not very pretty! Every large hole has something stood in front of it so the tortoises are safe from escaping. While it's being done it will be a nightmare but what bliss when it's all over :)

But - Gee! You've got a whole year to get all that done!

Think positive. ;-)
