Blue sky for Marguerite

Janey

I promised Marguerite a picture of Blue Sky…although ours is cold and crisp…today, it was very bright. With closer inspection, I noticed lots of life emerging in the garden.

I noticed the Ivy flowers…..they have been here all Winter

Well Terratoonie…..my Clematis Wisley Cream is flowering at last…not many blossoms though, so a good prune is needed I think!

And heres’ the buds of my young Cherry Tree….already beginning to grow!

Winter flowering Kniphofia…still sending up blooms, it has been a joy this last few months.

Euphorbia searching for the sun.

This little fellow was a bit chilly sat on Lychnis Coronaria

So I took him into the greenhouse and he soon warmed up and started trundling around.

Pretty Primula

I was struck by this tendril of the Passion Flower……

The blue flowers of Brunnera (I think lol) .

Still outside and quietly flowering…white Bacopa! I loved taking these pics as overall my garden looked dead and lifeless…..but with a closer look, all these treasures were found!

You have some wonderful flower photos here, Janey...
and Wisley Cream flowering for you !
I'll have to make a decision later on, how much to prune mine. It has certainly gone a bit straggly but the sparrows enjoy sitting in it, so I won't cut it back too hard. :o)

Lovely ladybird. Tender tendril of the Passion Flower.
Charming church. Beautiful blue, white and salmon shades of the flowers.... and buds on the cherry tree ... now that really does tell me spring is nearly here. :o)

Brilliant blue sky blog. Well done and thank you. :o)

What a lovely blog Janey. Well done.
Isn't it funny how everything can look so dead and dreary and then when you really start to look closely you find life progressing quietly along.
I love ladybugs and I'm glad you warmed up this little one. So pretty.
The heather looks so nice too with the lovely flowers. I really have to look into trying to grow them here.
Thanks for the blog..... :o)

Aw....thanks everyone....so pleased you enjoyed it!

Dd ~ This camera was my Chrissy pres...and I'm still getting to grips with it Lol! It's a Panasonic Lumix DMCFZ28...and soon tells me off if I'm not using it right...it bleeps!

Spritz ~ the Kniphofia was in the garden when we came so I don't know it's latin name...it could be Kniphofia rooperi and starts to flower September. You're very welcome to a piece when I split it in the Spring.

Now what am I going to give that ladybird for breakfast?????

Wonderful to find all those things in the cold winter Janey. It shows how tough our plants are. It's as if they can't wait for spring like us. lol

Winter flowering Kniphofia…new one on me! Does it do the same every year Janey? Or is it just a bit confused?!

6 Feb, 2009

Sid....well it was on me too.....yes the two years we have been here it flowers in the Autumn and still has flower spikes now. I googled it to see and there are so many different types...mine being not the most attractive.....like I said to Spritz...it looks like it probably is Kniphofia Rooperi.

YES please, Janey! Thank you for the kind offer!

Janey...I noticed the anchusa and thought it looked familiar, finally figured out, it is what we call Borage here...we pick it and eat it right out of the garden...or put it in our fresh garden salads. One of my favorite plants of all time..they volunteer here but do not overtake, they seem to know their place....Lovely

I've had a look on Google Cj....and I think this one is a Brunnera...they are similar flowers. You're right about the Anchusa it is of the Borage family and a lot more prickly than this one, we had them growing wild in the Spanish garden along with Chicory and the blue shades were lovely and always covered in bees.

7 Feb, 2009

The bees don't seem to be about the one that blooms here..I always look forward to the blooms...they bring back nice memories from when I lived in the islands north of here..it is where I first tasted the bloom of one. It is an herb and has a sweet taste.Your bloom has the same shape, you pinch the bloom off by taking hold right there on top..and pinching lightly and pulling..just pop it right in your mouth. Very high in vitamins...and other nutrients...health food you know....we have chicory that blooms here as well...but more on the road side, have not seen it and the Borage together...would be pretty though.
