Mike C's Blog (20) Adding to the front garden

Hello everyone,
We are finally getting some nicer weather here. It sure was a long and cold with A LOT of snow. The trees are leafing out and the perennials are coming up. I’ve been busy over the last week or so lifting perennials out of my back garden, dividing them in half, replanting half where it was and bringing the other half to the front garden. I did this to about 50 of the perennials. It doesn’t look like too much right now but the beds around my round lawn should be nice and full this summer.
The predominant colors in the front garden will be yellow, pink and blue. Next step is to get all the plants fertilized.
I’m looking forward to getting all the orchid cactus plants out of the basement and into the shade house. A lot of them have matured so we’re looking forward to a lot of blooms this year. I got the patio cover up in place so I’m ready for some nice weather so I can sit out there and enjoy the garden.
Happy gardening everyone…
Here are some photos of the front garden taken this morning.

Hi Arp, The bushes are roses. Along the stockade fence are Azaleas. In the center circle is a red japanese maple. I divided, black eyed susan, purple cone flower and meadow sage and also day lilies.

This will be wonderful and full Mike. Glad to here that your weather has warmed up. Finally out getting things accomplished. The work will be evident as things progress further. What a lot of perrenials you have moved! I'll be watching the progress. :-) Excellent about the orchid cactus as well.

Glad to hear that you are finally getting some nice weather Mike. Good for you to have so much done already!! This will be my year to sit back and enjoy the garden, other than just doing the basics; still recovering from knee surgery and it's a long go, so as much as I want to do more.... Oh well, it's nice to just watch it all come up, & I get to plan what to move where, and what to fill in, at a later date. Can't wait to see your new gardens fill in; they will be lovely, as usual!

Thanks everyone, We have a heat wave coming for the next couple days. They say we will hit 8o to 85 degrees. Very unusual for this time of the year but I'm ready for it. Plants and trees should really pop with the warmer weather.

Sounds wonderful and busy. :) I have the "fever" pretty bad down here in Georgia. What are the perennials you divided? And what are the small trees or shrubs waiting to bloom in the pictures?
