A Little Fun in the Sun - 30 minute Makeover*

*Another beautiful day and I set off to do my daily inspection of my garden, everything was looking bright and beautiful, until I came across 2 very shabby and grumpy looking characters, feeling guilty at neglecting the hardworking pair I decided to get out my paints and brushes and treat them to a little pampering
Poor Old Albert, No wonder he looks fed up, He’s fading away
Well lets see what we can do, to make him feel a little brighter, first a face and body scrub
Now for a a foundation layer of a nice sludge green, then a liner to show off his body shape and contours, followed by the clever bit a touch of blusher and a twinkle in his eyes to bring him back to his former self, Mmm much better if I say so myself
Now we will escort him back home, “Hey you Sluggies you better watch out, our young Alberts about”
What do you think, Albert may look Ten Years Younger, but there’s no pleasing some clients, he still a bit of a misery
Meet Our Resident Chirpy Robin!
he is not looking very chirpy but decidedly jaded and weary. Lets take him to the table to see how we can help.
Not good news , looks like he is in need of a full cosmetic overall and a closer look at that damaged eye is needed.
Oh Dear hope we can save that eye, dont think he can see that snail. So first a shampoo and colour to bring those feathers back to life. Now for some repairs to that eye to bring back the sparkle, Mmmm lets have a look now
First a shampoo and colour to brighten up his feathers. Now lets get to work on his eye, a manicure and I do believe he is definately looking perky and chirpy.
EyesRight!
Eyes Left! look at the gleam in his eye
Attention! Perfect
Back on Guard, looking spick and span, but still a grumpy Robin
Hope you enjoyed this bit of fun, wish I could find someone to work the same magic on me;0))*- 26 Apr, 2011

Oh,I just love these two..and they don't look miserable to me,Carole..you have done a smashing job there..but who could spruce me up ? Take more than a paintbrush for that..and a job lot of paint ! Lol...by the way..you had sun today ?? not here we didn't ..freezing !
26 Apr, 2011
Well done PP a good job done there. they look ready to face another hot summer !!!
26 Apr, 2011
What clever painting, PP, they look as good as new. I see that you are using paints in a tube - are these oils or acrylics please and I suppose you mix the paints to get the right colours ?
26 Apr, 2011
What a brilliant make up artist you are PP, you can give me a make-over anytime.
Like others would like to know what paints were used.

Thanks everyone so pleased you enjoyed my make overs, it was fun and very relaxing sat in the sunshine, Sandra it was cold and dull here today, I did the makeovers on Saturday!
Most of you are interested in the paints I used they are oil paints, over4yrs old, I used four colours and just mixed them to get the right shades its that long since I did any oil painting, pastels or watercolours, used to be so passionate and managed to sell quite a few paintings in a local gallery, dont ask why I suddenly stopped, I dont really know, I would love to start again but never get round to it. Thanks once again ;0)

They look perfect Carole as good as new are you another secret artist ? what made me think of 'one foot in the grave ' when I saw Alberts sulky face ...LOL...
26 Apr, 2011
Lol Amy I love that programme!
26 Apr, 2011
Clever you Pansy, what a perfect job you've done. I have a faded heron and 2 faded ducks that need dealing with if you get chance :). Lol
26 Apr, 2011
WOW!! Well done you! I love your sense of humour too, had me laughing all the way. :))))
Carole, I've just noticed at the top there you saying that you used to be passionate about painting then you suddenly stopped, the same thing happened to me, I used to be passionate about crosstitch tapestry, now it seems so hard to pick that needle up and finish one I started over 10 yrs ago.

They look really great Carole...I couldn't believe Albert was the same tortoise! I'd never thought of re-painting my ornaments, and like you had, my Robin looks very worse for wear after the winter......will give him a make-over too.
Thanks for the good idea!

Isn't it amazing what a little pampering can do? They're both looking fabulous once more!
27 Apr, 2011
Brilliant blog, PP, but I daren't let my two (real) tortoises see Albert or they will be clammering to come to you for a makeover :) I have a 'plastic' tortoise which must be about 40 years old and is very faded - I wonder if I could do the same thing. Would the paint you used be weatherproof? Goodness, you don't know what you've started - we'll all be out in the sunshine with our paints and brushes!

Dawn just send your Ducks and the Heron over , will see what I can do ;0)
Pleased it gave you a laugh Michaella, strange isnt it that we both have given up pastimes that gave us so much pleasure, you never know we may both may start again, we could do a swap a picture for a Tapestry;0)
Go on do it Janey, you will enjoy it once you start!
Thankls Bernieh, could do with a bit of pampering myself, but it would be under the knife not the paint brush lol
Your 40yr old tortoise sounds as if he would benefit a bit of pampering! not sure how long trhepaint will last outdoors but I am going to give them a coat of varnish and hopefully it will last until next year;0)

Thanks Sandra, just passing the time on a lovely sunny day, [ couldnt't get the tops off the paint its that long ago since I have used them, but Harry did the trick with his pliers lol
Could give them a whole new look Sixpence, but think they would lose their character if I did ;0))
28 Apr, 2011

2 May, 2011
Lol,Carole..no way..all we have to do is walk straight and tall..the improved posture will work wonders for us ! :o)
2 May, 2011
Me walk tall, I wish!
2 May, 2011
Lol Carole..I forgot you were a petite lady..see how polite and tactful,I can be,when I put my brain in gear :o))

2 May, 2011
That's a fab job PP! That wee tortoise looks brand new!
Now you've got the lids off those tubes, you should give your painting a whirl again, it's a talent you never lose! Go on, go on, go on!
2 May, 2011
Your tortoise is my favourite....totally restored after the very harsh winter, PP. His head is cocked in just the right way too as if he really is on the lookout for those slugs...lol
Loved your blog and your enthusiasm....a coat of varnish should be a help to keep tortoise and robin in ship-shape through the year...great idea. :)
3 May, 2011
Well done Pansy. Fab blog and pics. Albert is looking so handsome with the colouring, and what about Robin???? doesn't he look so handsome too with his lovely bright red belly? They look adorable. :o)))

What sort of paint did you use please Pansypotter? I have two terracotta pumpkins that are in much need of repainting and I do not know what sort of paint to buy to do the touching up job.
