Calendula

Also known as: Marigold (from Mary’s Gold); Pot Marigold;
Plant folklore: Symbolises joy and devotion; heals wounds; soothes skin-rashes.
Used for wedding garlands and strewn at weddings; dreaming of calendula means happiness in love and marriage; also used in love potions.
In Wales, if the marigold is not open by seven in the morning, there will be thunder that day.
In Devon and Wiltshire, picking marigolds will bring on thunder!
Wearing marigolds (not the rubber sort!) will allow you to see who has robbed you and also, to see fairies dancing at your feet.
Marigold is traditionally used to reduce inflamation. As a gargle, it relieves sore throats and as a cream or tincture, it soothes skin conditions, including varicose veins. Taken internally, treats inflammation in the gut.
It is also used as an antidote.
Gives balance to the garden.

I had lots of these this year. I love their smell. I'll have to check them to see if there's thunder on the way :o)
