A new found walk at Fountains Abbey..

As this is the third blog and pics of this wonderful place,we decided to start at the opposite end this time, through the west side entrance..and found some places we had not seen before, thanks to a very helpful volunteer guide,we chatted to,on his rounds. He suggested we detoured on a narrow path towards the former Banqueting Hall, which we didn’t know existed… and look for the early flowering wild Orchids,in the grounds…so off we went…such a lovely building..
Now,where do we start amongst this lot ?
Here they are..found them !
Aren’t they beautiful?
I was so pleased we were told about them..anyway,continuing on..and a coffee break at the east end of the NT property,by the Lake.
Oi you!,keep your beady eyes off our table..:o) It did fly on to the next one,and pinched a bit from a ladies scone..and she swapped it with her husbands as he had gone for some sugar ! Lol…so funny..he ate it with gusto..ha ha.
Love the wild Garlic..
..and this stone well..
On to the Temple of Piety, another lovely building..
The Moon pond..
The Abbey in the distance..these views are similar to others I have shown you on previous blogs..but it such a lovely place, you will have to indulge me :o)
We have come full circle, and arrived back at the West entrance, and Fountains Hall. This is used for educational school trips, and only three rooms are open to the public,as the others are occupied..another first visit for us..
I declined to have my photo taken in one of these! There is also a chest full of dressing up clothes, for the schoolchildren,I presume,or anyone who is like minded :o)
Love this Fireplace…
This was the Reading room, and old Family photo albums were laid out on a table for the public to look through..many of them with the late Queen Mother, and King George, who were frequent guests of the Vyner Family..
Time to go back to the visitor centre, and a nice lunch in the garden of the lovely Restaurant..beautiful warm sunshine all the day…heavenly….We didn’t walk ,as it is quite a steep hike to the top,so waited for the courtesy mini bus…much better :o)
Hope you enjoyed another walk around our favourite place..

Thanks Neellan,it's been nice every time we have been..although we do tend to wait and see the forecast before we book to stay over nearby, for a few days..Oh,it was funny about the scone..and she kept such a straight face...I didn't ! Lol.

Lovely blog, Bloomer. It's a beautiful place. I really like that modern "chandelier" in the room with the stone and the fire-place...and the moon ponds...glad I don't have to cut the grass, tho... :)

Thanks Karen..so did I..but glad I don't have to make a fire up in it,or try and dust that Chandelier....or cut the grass either !Lol..We stay halfway between this place and Harrogate,so very handy to keep going back..no doubt we will go back many times,hopefully...just sent you a PM .:o) x

Fountains Abbey is a lovely place. We used to go when the children were small and always enjoyed the Walk of the Seven Bridges. It's such a tranquil place and must have been stunning back in the day. Glad you enjoyed your day there.

Super Blog Sandra and lovely pictures. It looks as if the weather was especially kind to you. It's years since we last visited Fountains, but your blog has spurred me into thinking about going again, soon. Love the anecdote about the bird with the scone, made me laugh out loud :)

A magical place Bloomer both inside and out.
That crescent shaped pond is so beautiful and the ruins look so majestic. A place you could never tire of and a place of peace I am sure.
