I know a lot of you have seen my previous blogs and pics, from other visits,..but I’m not going to apologise for showing more..I can always find something new to look at..and some of the same, but a different angle..ok,you can whizz through if you want to Lol..
Firstly,we revisited the Valley Gardens in Harrogate..a favourite place of ours..A lot of the flowerbeds were just being planted up with precision, with summer bedding..but these were still looking lovely..
Beds of Bellis..
.
This is the ‘in flight’ Garden..it was nice to see the listed plants that attract all manner of insects..and glad I have got a few of these..I hope to have some more at some point..
Stately Alliums..
Gunnera’s starting to reach for the Sky..
I hope you enjoyed the visit..Fountains Abbey again another time,if you would like to join us..still finding something new there too..:o)

Lovely gardens Sandra, love the beds of Bellis Daisies they seem to last for ages and those Wicker Insects are very unusual , the Gunera is very attractive but one I think I will give a miss lol nice place for the must see list;0)

Thanks for the tour Bloomer! the Bellis Daisy plot was lovely, I've not seen them used in that way before :o)

Those bellis en masse are looking really good, makes a change from polyanthus and pansies, they seem to have held up well in the poor spring.
I love the giant willow insects
Thanks Bloomer

I've been thinking.........
(I know...... doesn't happen often. :0)
Would bellis work in a tub over winter instead of pansies and violas?
They may even go on for a year or two
Would it work do you think?

Very nice ... I enjoy seeing parks and flower beds like that :o)

Those Gunneras are going to be stunning. I wish I had the room for just one in my garden :o)

Lovely pics Sandra, doesn't that bed of bellis look amazing. I've never grown them myself, might give them a go next year. It's wonderful that everyone's taking seriously the plight of our insects isn't it, not too sure about that spider though ...he might scare them away:-))

That was lovely, Bloomer. We used to do a trade fair in Harrogate every May...loved it! Think I've got some photos of my daughter (just started walking) in the Valley Gardens...

Thanks Sue..glad you enjoyed it..and the weather was just perfect..always looks better in the sunshine:o)
........
Thanks Carole..I loved the Wicker insects too,and I agree..you don't have room for a Gunnera! lovely as they are:o)
........
Thanks Pam..and I thought the Bellis daisies looked beautiful for a change..I wouldn't mind trying those myself next year..I don't see why they wouldn't look good in a pot..let's go for it,shall we ? We need some Wicker Insects as well ! Lol.
.......
Glad it gave you some nice memories,Lou..it doesn't really change much, does it? Thanks :o) Have you been on your cruise yet?
........
Thanks Holly..It really is a lovely place, and we always pay a visit there, whenever we are in the area..not far from us either, about an hours drive..
........
Thank you Hywel..so do we..especially when they are so well cared for like these..:o)
...........
Yuo can almost hear them growing,Annie !If I had one, there would be no room for anything else..great Parasol though,eh? could just about squeeze a couple of chairs under it :o)
.........
Thank you,Ba..it's great they think seriously about the wildlife,i agree..and nice they give info ,which plants are beneficial too..a good idea..Don't be scared of the spider..he wasn't real Lol..but he's a good guy :o)
........
Thanks Karen..Amazing how many know this place ..did you have your stand at the Spring flower show,or was it a seperate event? .We have been a few times to various shows there..you might not have heard, but last years Great Yorkshire show had to cancelled because of severe flooding..on the first day..lots of cars etc, were just bogged down..such a shame for everyone :o(

I have Bellis in a pot it has been there for two years so you should be fine Bloomer and Pam :o)
12 Jun, 2013
Thanks for that Neellan..that's great..I wasn't sure if they were just an annual plant or not,as I've never grown them..in fact,I don't know anything much about them at all..only that they are pretty..I shall check them out :o)

Another 3 weeks yet Bloomer:)....am ready for this holiday as you can imagine!!
13 Jun, 2013
We used to do the British Craft Trade Fair, Bloomer...and now I'm wondering if it was, indeed, May...it was always nice weather and around the same time as one of the big race meetings in York. We rented a beautiful big house, opposite the gardens, one year and we were in the gardens every day. That was the most enjoyable time! :)
13 Jun, 2013
I can imagine very well,Lou..:o) we have nothing planned as yet..I'm sure you and Brian will be ready for a break..will email you later xx
13 Jun, 2013
It sounds like it could have been around that time,Karen..Spring flower show is usually April.and Great Yorkshire show is early July,I think..more trade stands at the latter..can you remember if there were lots of Cattle etc? there are lots of Agricultural things, and horse riding events then too..anyway,good weather is the key to these events,so you were lucky :o)
13 Jun, 2013
It was just hundreds of us makers, Bloomer...but, if Kitkat was walking - it must have been April! There was a great little restaurant...think it was called, "the frogs leg" (or something like that)...and a fabulous little old fashioned button shop...I wonder if it's still there? We won loads of money on the horses that last year we were there, too :))

What a lovely place to visit and that first flower bed looks so well planted in really pretty colours. I really like those insect sculptures - some people are so clever aren't they?
I shall look forward to seeing Fountain's Abbey - it is many years since we were there so I have no memory of it at all.
So glad that you enjoyed it so much.
13 Jun, 2013
I don't know many of the shops or Restaurants Karen, but just maybe they might still be there..you couldn't really forget the 'frogs legs' one, could you ? Lol...now if you had only bought one of them with your winnings, you might have been a near neighbour of mine! :o) on second thoughts, you might be glad you are in France! ha ha..
13 Jun, 2013
Thank you Chris..I'm glad you enjoyed the stroll around the Gardens..it really was pretty, but that part of the Dales and surrounding area is one of our favourite places to visit..
If you want to take a look,I posted a few blogs and pics in October 2010,and April 2011..with a lot more detail of Fountains Abbey..the next one will just be a few pics,as I don't want to bore everyone with the same photo's..there is also one of Harrogate flower show, which was the reason for going the 2nd time..
13 Jun, 2013
I'm working my way backwards through your blogs.. Lol.
more nice pics :o))) x
20 Jun, 2013
