Yesterday,it was such a lovely warm and sunny morning so I decided to pot up all the Pelargoniums,I wanted to over winter this year. ’
Needless to say.some were going to be left to the elements, but I ended up doing them all !

I know we have had some mild winters of late, but I couldn’t just watch them die,if we had a bad one, could I ?
Anyway, they are all tucked up now, till next spring..:o)

I still have a couple of tender Fuchsia’s in pots but I shall leave them till as long as possible. I have a bottom shelf that will suffice,so once I’ve cleared the non essentials away, that’s it sorted ! Lol.

Thank you ,Amy.Some of them have been taken from cuttings over the years, so as yet,I haven't had to buy any for ages.. I think that's the 'Yorkshire' in me ! lol x

That’s lovely Sandra. I’m the same … haven’t bought one for years, take plenty of cuttings and accept cuttings from friendly gardeners! x

Now you can relax for a bit! Your greenhouse looks incredibly clean and tidy - well done you!

Thank you SheilaI agree,, it's such a shame to discard them after a season,if we can take cuttings So satisfying to get free plants. :o)

I don't know about relaxing,Sue. I have quite a few jobs to do in the garden yet. I don't have a Greenhouse, this is our Conservatory.I saved the staging from an outdoor Mini Greenhouse, which I bring down from the loft every year..so very handy, and frost free :o) .x

Well done for bringing in your plants Bloomer. I must admit that I don't save many plants these days, but I have taken some salvia cuttings that are now shooting. As you say, you can always take cuttings in the early spring from the plants that you have.

I felt exactly the same way which is why mine are already in Shirley, have been for a few weeks now, I only have two big succulent planters left on the patio, if we get a bad forecast its just a case of carrying them down and standing on the floor in the g'house, actually that is no mean feat really, I will need the sack wheels, apart from deadheading, mowing the lawns and removing the weeds when I spot them I'm sorted now, going stircrazy already Sandra, I roam the garden like a lost soul looking for a job to do....My garden sheds have never been so tidy...Sigh !!!!

I do very much the same only my mini-greenhouse has to stay outside all winter, though it's in the most sheltered corner of the balcony. I had the plastic cover that came with it & I've put a old plastic mattress bag over it to give it that tiny extra bit of protection.

Like yours, Bloomer, mine is full of Geraniums, Pelargoniums & Fuchsias. It should suffice as long as we don't get one of those "once-in-a-lifetime" winters! (I've been through about 3! 😂) The last was the winter of 2009/10. If that happens I will probably lose the lot as there's no way I can bring them into the flat - unless we move out of course! 😂

Very organised Sandra! They all look very healthy!
I have mainly perennials now and don't need to worry about the weather!

It's something I've always done,Linda, and then again ,I do have the space, and it's frost free..I only compost them, when they get too leggy.Glad your Salvia cuttings are doing well .:o)
''''''
I know what you mean,Sue, I don't have much outdoor space for storage, just a very old decrepit cold frame ,where I keep two 'heavy 'pottery tubs, which aren't frost free.and a few bits and bobs in the surrounding spaces.. It's like doing a Jigsaw ! I do have 'my' space on the bench in the shed, where I keep a couple of tender Fuchsia's :o)

I used to have the plastic covers,Balcony, when the mini Greenhouse was outside, I bought three over the years, and got fed up of having to replace them.we get our fair share of windy weather in Yorkshire..tha knows ! Lol. I hope your Geraniums etc, survive this coming winter..:o)

Thank you Rose, most of my plants are Perennials now too,but I still like to have some summer bedding in pots on the Gravel in the Back garden,as I can see them from indoors. The Borders are mostly easy care now
Age being a factor !Lol.

Thank you Shirley, hope Michael is feeling much better now xx

Just thought I'd make the effort on a lovely sunny day,Eileen.I'm not much of a cold weather gardener !

Sandra, thanks for asking after Michael. He has found that dabbing Calamine lotion on the affected areas of his forehead and scalp helps ... it's not a good look though ... lol!

19 Oct, 2022

Oh dear is he still suffering from the after effects,Shirley ?
Sorry, but I had to smile about the Calamine lotion.. is it still that flattering shade of pink, that I was familiar with, when I had it? Mind you, mine was hidden from view ! LoL
Seriously though,I hope it's helping..xx

20 Oct, 2022

Sandra, it's taking time to heal up, and yes, the Calamine is still a dirty pink shade! Not sure he appreciated my laughing at him when I had finished dabbing it on ... :o))

21 Oct, 2022

Oh dear, poor Michael.:o(.. Our friend also had it on his head, and round his eyes, and face,so it must be one of the worst places to have it so he really suffered. On the brighter side,at least it's getting to cap /hat weather,so he can at least hide it..I can't believe it's still that horrible pink ! I guess a'rug' is out of the question ' ? Lol. Oh Shirley ,I'm sure he will have an answer to that ! Sorry Michael ..xx

21 Oct, 2022

Sandra, I have just told him of your comment and he says to tell you he's not happy going to the barbers just yet and may grow a ponytail!!! I shall lock him in a room on his own soon .....

21 Oct, 2022

Ha ha,and what a tactful answer,I imagined much worse ! lol Good luck with the ponytail,Michael,I'm good at plaiting,if need be..:o) .x

21 Oct, 2022

Sandra, stop it, don't encourage him!! :o)) x

22 Oct, 2022
