Honey & Nutellas new home…

We had a look around a huge GC on Wed…and found the biggest they had…Honey got so excited, she fell over and frightened herself…and hid in her house…lol..
It was fun to watch them trying to work out how to get up on top of the house, to the Food and treats…

They have lots of room now to run play eat sleep etc…

We had to send to Belgium for the stand, on line, as the GC didn’t stock it, but it was here in 24 hrs….lots of storage underneath…

We also had a piece of luck with a neighbour friend who asked us if we could use a large Cage, I nearly took his hand off, as our Moptop Canary, & Button Quail were sharing top and bottom of Moptops cage, and we were looking for something to replace it…

They are so happy, and Moptop is learning to fly again, as there is so much space, and the quail has plenty of running room…here are the pics…

Honey & Nutella’s New Luxury Home….

Investigating the Goodies

Moptop’s New Home, and boy is he happy

Button the Quail, in her space too…Hope you can see her, she’s very tiny…

Hi Pix, I've had Animals since I was a child, my Father was a great animal lover, and also bred Budgies, & Raced Pigeons....my great fondness is for Cats though...
Moptop is OH we've had him three years, and he's a little dear, sings his heart out...Button wasn't wanted, so I took her in a couple of years ago..she's very timid, and I doubt will ever be tame.. she's happy though, and has a little bolt hole now to hide in when she wants too...

Hi Kat..I don't breed Button, she started laying an egg just a few weeks ago, and has laid three so far, which are so tiny, but perfect, I give it to Snoball, she loves a raw egg for breakfast...

Thanks Carol, they do seem to be content with more space...:o))))

Crissue, we make here very good soup from Button eggs! Just 7-8 eggs are enough for family soup. It is extremely rich in high quality protein. I do not know if you know that, but part of Slovak-Russian space project was to take these innocent creatures with astronauts to the space to lay them eggs there. Our first and only astronaut (if I do not count Cernan in the USA) was responsible for this project and for Buttons too. Unfortunately, they all died during landing, he said. Idiotic, isnĀ“t it. We did not solve famine on the Earth and are making space projects. Anyway, do not give such high quality material to guinea-pigs! Otherwise....they really have 5star hotel :))

Hiya, no worries on that score, :o)))) I'm surprised she started laying after so long Kat really...I did know they are high in Protein, I didn't know the Space story, I must show OH, he'll be interested...I suppose if there were eggs regular it would be worth doing something with them, but at least her little body is functioning properly....They must have taken quite a few Quail with them, unless they were the bigger ones, these Buttons are minute..and the eggs are so petite...

Keeping cool has been the primary target here yesterday, temperatures were very high and the air was almost unbreathable, last night thank goodness, we got the rains, but not the Storm we were promised...so just a tad cooler this morning...

Hi Dawn,

Have made three fleece mats for the Guinea Pigs home. I had read about them a lot on the net and Youtube had a Video too...It does away with all the Sawdust, which makes a mess anyway, and the new type granules, that are expensive too...This is a clean and efficient way of lining the base, with a towel underneath..each day the mat can be brushed, and they can be changed and put through the Washing machine...no conditioner tho...and they love it...We have just taken our cat tree down and put away till Autumn, the girls spend more time out than in...till then, and we get our chairs to ourselves lol...

Not sad at all, it makes you feel good to know they're comfortable and contented...there are so many animals, that do not get a chance of a nice life...or like our Sweets comes only for a short while...so I'm like you while they're with me, I do my best...x
