Anemone Nemorosa

100! And I got so excited a few years ago when I bought one blue one... Yours sound like the finishing touch for your woodland, it will be wonderful!

it is a wonderful plant. I have found they need to be shallowly planted to be successful. Too often they get dried out but still sold as suitable.

It WILL be wonderful Dawn....shall look forward to seeing how they progress..

Well I hope you post images of those plants when they do bloom, DA. Your woodland will be your touch to posterity!!!

Also dead easy from seed as long as you sow it green. As soon as the seed will come off the plant, before it has turned to brown, take it and sow straight away. No heat, just lightly covered and left to the elements.

That looks like a long and toring job! I bet it will all be worth it though. I love A. Nemorosa.

Seaburn, thanks for the info on shallow planting. I wonder if the ones I've planted in the past in autumn had dried out.
Karen, I also planted some A nemorosa Robinsoniana after your recommendation, they came potted.

Hello Sue, being in the green hopefully they'll do ok. These rhizomes are tiny, it wasn't that big a job and I threw 6 in each hole, didn't take long :-)

Everything else seems to do well for you Dawn, I like to plant in groups, don't get fed up halfway through, lol, lets face it, you do have plenty of room for them to spread and do their own thing....

we are on damp clay, so at times, plants take a while to get going and rarely spread ridiculously, the woodland floor should be suitable for the anemone now, fingers crossed and these are fresh. .... I've got another 100 coming tomorrow. ;-)

if you bought them in the autumn they were probably already dried out so that will be why they failed. The ones in the green will do much better.

I love these little flowers. They grow in the hedgerows around here. I had them in the garden too last year.

Yes Dawn the nemorosa were small black corms. I had no idea that the blanda were like that! I found a big patch of A blanda up on a bare hillside near here last year. I wondered if it had perhaps been wooded at one time though all the surrounding hills were bare too.

Strange how the flowers are very similar yet one has a corn and the other a rhizome, my A blanda have spread great under the shrubs and have travelled quite a distance. They must have looked great on the hillside no matter how they arrived there.

They did,but it was such a surprise! I do love to see them carpeting a woodland - I hope yours settle well.

I’ve planted Anemone ranunculoides too, the yellow one :)

I used to have thisone but I think the molluscs got it. must look out for signs of it later on.
My garden looks tidy this morning due to the 2" blanket of snow today :o)

Just realised I made a mistake as both my nemorosa and blanda are blue ones. And it was nemorosa I found on the hillside. Old age strikes again...what a wally.

Stera, there are so many varieties. I like them all.
Seab, I hope yours appear, no sign of mine yet, A blanda have appeared first. Any more snow? Isn’t it bitterly cold!
