Wow! Your garden is amazing Dawn. But can I ask...why is the woodland already so dark? Pic 4...it looks like a conifer forest. I thought you had mostly Birches.

Dotty, I'm pleased with the trillium, I only planted it last year. Im in the garden all the time and bear in mind it's far from perfect.
Seaburn, it's Lathraea clandestina (purple toothwort), yes a leafless parasite on the willow roots.
Karen, it was just they way the photo took, the woodland is 80% deciduous (no leaves yet) and the rest Corsican pine, I have oak, ash, maple, hazel, larch, alder, beech, hornbeam and willow too.

toothwort that's it. I love these unusual plants. I thought toothwort originally but the Bing image didn't look at all like yours. odd isn't it that the flowers are such a lovely colour but it doesn't make chlorophyll.

Looks wonderful Dawn! I’d love to have a shady woodland area. Looks magical! Your garden is lovely, lots of Spring colour coming through. Your list of tree species is amazing!

Wow, I'd no idea toothwort flowered like that! Only seen pics of a rather dingy pink one before.Great isn't it?
Glad you showed the Trillium flower opening. Do you manage the whole of your wonderful garden on your own?

The purple toothwort is an odd thing but very different, it's spread sparodically favour 15 feet from the original place.
Thanks Kate, you could probably create a woodland area :)
Thanks Callie.
Hi Stera, yes I do the garden, but husband mows and does the heavy pruning and anything I can't manage if a heavy job.

Absolutely beautiful. I love your garden, Dawnsaunt. It is much further on than mine. Spring is always slow to get going in Scotland.

It is a magnificent garden and I love your first photo of it. The cluster of pale pink hyacinths look perfectly placed!
