Lovely blog, Dawn. Love the atmospheric feel in the pics. I do like a misty, frosty day.

Your pictures have a misty, dreamy, surreal quality. Almost like Claude Monet - and it's real!

Thanks everyone, it was -3 then dropped to -4. The sun broke through at about noon. Thought the blog would be a contrast to colourful sunny ones haha

Gosh..that’s the epitome of January isn’t it. We had a much brighter but equally frosty day. It was very cold and got colder as the day went on. But this morning I managed to clear the area behind the greenhouse. Its ready for replanting now....with herbs and wildflower seeds. I’ll wait until spring though. Who are the chocolate Labs?

Absolutely Karen, typical January day or what we expect anyway. A herb garden sounds great! Coupled with the wildflowers it’ll be insect heaven.
The dogs are Charlotte’s, they visit most days and churn the grass up a treat when it’s wet which is most of the time. Doberman and Weimaraner, beautiful dogs but what a handful!

It looks positively ghostly Dawn you almost expect to see a headless rider dashing through ..

A similar couple of days here as well, though we have only got down a around freezing. Two days this week we have had 0C! A bit of a shock to the system really after weeks of higher than average temps & very much higher than average rainfall - for this corner of the UK! In fact I can't remember such a warmish &, especially, wet, autumn/winter as we have had this season in the close to 20 years we have lived here!

I don’t remember a winter this mild either Balcony, I feel blessed. It was frosty again this morning but turning mild again after today.

We are getting a good spell of that icy Canadian air that gets down into the lungs and makes you feel alive! and it's good to be alive!

Lovely blog, as you say its different, very atmospheric Dawn, I do like the shot of your visitors marching over the walkway, they must love the freedom of your garden, I too have a paddy field effect but the dogs have to go out, I know from years gone by that my lawn will recover..I've treated myself to a new garden roller, you'd need a tractor to tow one at your place though, sounds like fun though doesn't it..

Very lovely photographs Dawn, almost monochrome and there are so many of these dark grey wet days, but still your wintry pond is beautiful in its quiet way. I love number 3 pic too with the pale seed heads, just lovely..

Hi Sue, yes the dogs churn everywhere up but like you say, the grass recovers.
Thanks Janey, it was an eerie morning, so dull, roll on Spring.
