Feeling quite proud

I was watering a couple of things in the front garden yesterday evening and was obviously hidden from view from passers by as I was bending down towards the back. I heard people walking up the road with a dog chatting and then they stopped. One of them said “I always like to stop here and look at this beautiful garden. It’s so nice to see a proper garden with lots of flowers.” As I looked up; it was my garden they were looking at. How nice was that…
It made me feel quite proud.

Isn't it good - last week my neighbour over the fence stopped to tell me that my pink rose was gorgeous and he likes to look at it each morning when he wakes up!
You should be very proud!

How great was that? Being in just the right place to hear a compliment that wasn't 'aimed' at you.
We all do our gardens for ourselves but it's great to hear that other people like them too.
With the necessity of people working to try to make ends meet, more gardens are smaller, paved or low maintenance, so it's great to see them when they are lovingly cared for (and labour intensive).
