After stump killer!

5-6 years ago we had 30 Willow/Poplar trees cut down. The roots were growing along just under the lawn so we had to have that dug up and use a digger to remove the roots which were over 20 ft long and as big as tree trunks. We applied stump killer to get rid of the stumps/growth that would have sprung up everywhere.
Today I dug a rotted stump up, it was surprisingly easy, very soft and light. I thought you might like to see it as I was surprised how dry, clean and bug free it is.

I dont have any photos DD, before I joined GOY I took very few photos of my gardens over the years. I wish I was Helenium but it almost slid out of the ground and was crumbly and very light to handle.

Looks like great kindling for a fire! isn't it amazing how nature disposes of its debris?

I'm surprised that stag beetles haven't moved in D. but think they prefer their wood a little more rotten.

The lack of any bugs or flora on it really surprised me to Grandmage I wonder if its the stump killer?

Bet it was a relief to get that out of the ground! I have a dead plum tree, its roots are rotting underground, with some amazing fungus growing on it :)
