Have just asked a question about one of my xmas wants, which prompted me to ask what are Goy gardeners are hoping for to help in the garden etc?
I am hoping for a digital camera too take more garden pics and some sort of gardeners encyclopedia disc for a start.

Ooohhh, well where shall I start....? I have a "standing order" with Father Christmas....and every year he brings me a bucket of chicken manure, a ball of string, some cane caps, a hundred or so seed labels, and a new kneeling mat! Somehow or other he manages to fit them all in my stocking...lol. This year, I have been greedy and asked for a new pair of gardening clogs as well...:)))
23 Nov, 2009
I don't want too much really. Another Christopher Lloyd book, a Green Man, a bird bath, an ordinary
man to build me some raised beds and of course lots of money so that I can buy all the plants on my wish list :~))

I am hoping for a book titled "Roses for Canadian Gardens' and also a copy of 'Botanica's Pocket Roses'. A new hoe would be nice too as my old one fell apart......I would also like a greenhouse but somehow I don't think this will fit on Santa's sleigh. LOL

24 Nov, 2009
Poor you, sure you wouldnt rather have new knees? Good way of getting out of xmas shopping Bob?
24 Nov, 2009
Oooo....yes, a new pair of secatuers...what a good idea....are you listening Santa???
24 Nov, 2009
I jumped the gun a bit - my pressie arrived two days ago and I'm using it already (naughty, naughty) - Photoshop, so I can resize and post photos on GOY. Only problem is, I now need an instruction manual (in plain English) to explain it all !!!!! I'm just a Luddite really !!!! Oh, also, an understanding, garden friendly lady would be great. Know any ??????????
24 Nov, 2009

24 Nov, 2009

24 Nov, 2009
A pair of left handed secateurs would be wonderful and new knees - kneeling is 'literally' a pain! New good quality gardening gloves that don't let holly prickles through would be rather nice too :-)
24 Nov, 2009
Oooh - yes, posh, tough leather gloves, please! And some garden tokens so I can go and choose lots of plants without feeling guilty!
How about an account at my favourite mail-order Nursery? (LOL - Santa couldn't and wouldn't dare do that!)
24 Nov, 2009
Oh Jaqcue perhaps summer houses dont fit down chimneys I had the concrete base put in for mine 10 years ago and am still hoping?
MG my husband is left handed must be a pain at times? Apparently my daughter may have a left handed child but not me his wife funny things genes.
Whats a Weed wand Grindle?
Who pays the bill if you have an account Spritz?
24 Nov, 2009
already ordered some trilliums, but i would like a bespoke statue but I havent seen anything i really like or found someone to do it. just having my secetuers and cutting knife sharpening would be good.
24 Nov, 2009
A strong knowledgeable handsome young gardener who is so rich he won't charge for his work, and who understands and asks for my instructions with a smile and carries them out to the 'T' ....and a new pair of lungs.
Not much really!
24 Nov, 2009
Hey Mad, If I get you Chris Beardshaw, you have to get me Rachel de Thane or Carol Kleine. Deal ?
24 Nov, 2009
ive hinted for my pond, but wont be till spring but im happy to wait, hope santa doesnt spill the water heheh
24 Nov, 2009
Apparently ( and I have it on good authority but PLEASE don't take my word for it ) there is a young man somewhere in Aberdeen, a 'Personal Trainer' in his professional day-to-day life, who hires himself out as a naked gardener at weekends...he's quite popular with ladies of a certain age, supposedly.
I'd STILL rather have a new pair of knees!
;-)
24 Nov, 2009
Oh no Bscott, not naked, Heaven forbid! OK Muddywalters, I'll get Rachel or Carol, but if you could get Monty, I won't let him do any work! See what you have started Drc726?
24 Nov, 2009

24 Nov, 2009
Bscott, I bet he's not got a lot to show for himself in the winter ! Brrrrrrrrrr !! Oh Drc you've opened a can of worms here I think. Ha ha ha
24 Nov, 2009
Tee hee! I'm sorry gals, I don't know his name! He was a colleague's personal trainer, but she discovered that he had 'alternative' strategies for making money when he showed up as a male stripper at a hen-night she was attending! THEN she discovered he also hired himself out as a naked gardener!!! In ABERDEEN....well, I ASK you!
S'true.....honest!
24 Nov, 2009
well if youve got the nerve,, was going to say front lol,, anyway if youve got the nerve to do it and makes good money, well done to him and good luck,, better watch the nettles though ;o))

24 Nov, 2009
Still dont know what a weed wand is???
24 Nov, 2009
A wand to magic all the weeds away of course, sorry I am a witch not a fairy god mother so I cannot grant her this one wish.
24 Nov, 2009
A gas powered wand which you use to burn off weeds - I my opinion doubtful if it works!
24 Nov, 2009
Oh I see thanks MG I just scare mine!
24 Nov, 2009
You mean you jump out at them and shout 'BOO' Drc? Can you come and do it to our weeds too please :)
24 Nov, 2009
Mg I have a broom if it wasnt so windy??
24 Nov, 2009
LMAO! I'm moving to Aberdeen, Santa, please arrange!
I'd like a new spine, and for my garden to treble in size (house too!) .
Failing that, my shed door wont close, so I'd like someone to come & fix it!! Lol! Preferably the guy from Motinot's pics!!
24 Nov, 2009
Yes it does work Moongrower BUT it uses a heck of a lot of gas and takes a long time and the weeds eventually come back again, I sold mine.
25 Nov, 2009
guess you got the answer Drc, now I've read Bobs post, maybe I'll miss on that one, I thought they were an easy way of getting rid of the dandelions that keep popping up in the path, maybe it's just easier to keep digging them out :(
25 Nov, 2009
Grindel if its for the odd dandelion what about one of those creme buele burners?
25 Nov, 2009
Bobg we have one of those gas wands and I am still not convinced it works... Grindle I'd keep digging them out, the weed wand will burn off the top but not destroy the tap root.
25 Nov, 2009
I'll agree with the weed wand comments. It might work on small shallow rooted weeds but doesn't work on the bigger, more annoying ones. It'll burn off the top and give them a headache but they'll be back.
Hmmm....a naked gardener??? Be a bit dangerous if you ask me....especially if he starts up the strimmer. He'd need a really good suntan lotion and mosquito repellent around here in the summer.
25 Nov, 2009
He needs a full set of thermal underwear and a belt of hot water bottles strapped round his waist here in the summer, Gilli.
25 Nov, 2009
Kinda defeats the object, wouldn't you say, girls?
;-)
25 Nov, 2009
Lol Bscott !
25 Nov, 2009
Is that your winter coat you have on Bscott?
25 Nov, 2009
Yep, warm and woolly, denise!
25 Nov, 2009
thanks for the comments on the weed wand, it's interesting to hear what people think that have used it. I thought from writeups it was the organic gardeners answer to weeds :((( just goes to show you should ask gardeners if you want the truth :))
27 Nov, 2009
i have asked for some books on plants so i can find all the different plant names....
28 Nov, 2009
I'm going to ask for 'A Photographic Encyclopaedia of Seedheads' ! ! ! ! Hee hee hee :-)
28 Nov, 2009
Nice one, Muddy! I want a winter canopy that encloses the whole garden when I want to be out there!
28 Nov, 2009
Bornagain has just asked in questions 'what happened to bscott?'
28 Nov, 2009
Hmmm! The fibonacci code happened!
