Great shot...is that a planter there that looks like a log? or a log that looks like a planter? lol
16 Mar, 2009
NN ~
This is a log-shaped terracotta planter. Lol.
Do you have miniature iris ?
17 Mar, 2009
Lovely TT, a beautiful yellow, I like the planter too :-)

Hello Panther ~
I'm lucky this planter survived the snow and freeze.:o)
Some of the terracotta pots crack in the cold weather.

Speaking of snow leopards...and you were on another picture...This flower has pretty leopard spots! So springy!

Hi DD2 ~
This is a cute little iris. It surprised me by turning out even prettier than the picture on the packet. Lol.
20 Mar, 2009
i lost all mine:o( pots cracked in the frost and then i think the squirrels found them. hopefully get some more soon.
20 Mar, 2009
Oh, Seaburngirl ~
That's a real disappointment. :o(
Yes, have another try with more bulbs. :o)
Yesterday a blackbird dug up a pot of my summer bulbs I'd only just planted, so that he could get the wet compost to make his nest. He made SUCH a mess !

Birds can be rascals...wish I had gotten some bulbs planted ...you are all the only gardening I am seeing so far..thankful for this much..love your little iris TT..it is so sweet..I have not seen these here... missing goy..too busy painting etc. lately...hope all is well with Conker & Troubles..I mean Truffles...xx
20 Mar, 2009
We miss you too, Catfinch, but we know you're busy with other things.
Truffle definitely is TROUBLE today. He's been working out how many naughty things he can pack into one day. Lol.
We have lovely warm, sunny weather in England this week. I hope you can get back to your gardening soon. This is the first time I'd planted the miniature Iris, and a real delight, so I certainly recommend this one. :o)

That's lovely TT. I really like the spring bulbs. This is such a sunny colour. I must look for them for next year.
20 Mar, 2009
The shorter bulbs like this one are less likely to get blown over in strong winds. :o)

keep an eye on 'casualty corner' in the gc. our local one reduces those things that have gone over. I am going there this weekend. i got my iris 'harmony' from such a place. 10 pots for £2 and look at how they grew from planting in the green.
20 Mar, 2009
That's good advice. :o)
20 Mar, 2009
Yes that's why I like to grow mineature daffs and crocuses. I have to put the tall ones in some shelter.
20 Mar, 2009
I like that iris and the container too.
21 Mar, 2009

Hi Ualda and Aleyna ~

... and the container :o)
21 Mar, 2009
SPECtacular....!!!!!!!!!!!!!
24 Mar, 2009
Thanks, Poetgardener.
I hope your bulbs are starting to bloom well in New Jersey :o)
24 Mar, 2009
I bought a little pot of these this year -I didn't get to see the pretty flowers, though - that horrible fat wood pigeon sat on it, then he pecked the second flower! :-(
28 Mar, 2009
Oh, Spritz, that's a pity because these are such cute flowers.
Next year, maybe try a few in a little container and put it somewhere inaccessible by big birds.... wherever that may be....
This spring I've had real trouble with birds ~ blackbirds and wood pigeons ~
digging up my soil and plants. Ruining some items completely. They also dig out compost from pots to line their nests, often taking the plants along too... :o(
I end up putting big pebbles and stones on the surface of anything in a container, but even that precaution doesn't always keep the birds away ! Any ideas please ???

Love the colour !

Nice color and looks very sunshiny...
20 Apr, 2009
Hello Skippy ~
What a lovely word ~ sunshiny !
We're having a wonderful sunny week here in England, so I'm catching up with lots of tasks outdoors....

Hi TT, was looking at this photo, and I realied I liked it in March and I like it now! I must say, my dwarf Iris bulbs I planted last fall grew into some very spindly looking Iris. Nothing like this. My larger ones from last year, haven't bloomed yet, but the leaves are nice and tall, and already they look like they will grow big and strong. I think the dwarf bulbs would've done better in a pot, or possibly if we didn't have so much rain this spring. But again, this is just a lovely flower, and a great photo!

Hi Pg ~
Yes, a lot of bulbs seem to do better in pots, don't they.
Last year my hyacinths did very well in pots.
This year I planted them in the ground, and they were not so successful.
I might put them back in pots for next year ! Lol.
