A very nice show of Water Lillies. I wish I had Duckweed in my lilly pond, it would cut down on the green algi.

Beginning to think you keep posting pics of things I can't grow just to make me jealous... Well..., you succeeded !....lol. I'm simply drooling with envy ! They are quite simply gorgeous...;-)

Beautiful lilies - my duckweed's so bad the birds keep thinking they can walk on it, lol.

Flower...if you have a pond sure you can grow these ! Give your hubby something to do in his..spare ? time!??
Wagger..ours do ! lol But the water beneath is crystal clear.............

I have baby birds trying to land on the nymphaea leaves, Wagger! I keep an eye out now because I fished a couple of dead birds out of the pond last summer.
BB and Jane! You are inciting envy in just about everyone on goY...that is truly a gorgeous plant and you confirmed your expertise with the camera, Jane. I've tried to start a colony of duckweed...but the fish love it. It never lasts more than a week.
been fighting with filamentous algae that I brought home with some oxygenating plants...Grrrr... that is horrid stuff! and the worst part of that is that the fish don'l like it either!!
6 Aug, 2010
Believe me I've tried. ..lol. My pond is in almost total shade. I get lots of lovely leaves(until the koi and goldfish have there way with them), but very few blooms. Maybe there are some varieties that will bloom in full shade, after seeing yours, it's worth checking into !

Lori...too kind. We dont get the algae anymore...and we dont have fish...its simply a wildlife pond and luckily it seems to work....
Flower..sure yours is lovely in its very own way.......

Lovely waterlillies. We used to have a pond in our other garden and had waterlillies growing in it that flowered well every year, but it was a small one. The insects used to land on the leaves and have a drink and the fish and frogs liked it for the shade it gave.

Yes Lindak...the wildlife love it dont they ! The flowers were covered in hoverflies a few days ago....

I agree with you Bb, we have had so many lillies this year. We did start to count them as they opened, but gave up, but we did count the buds and at one time we counted at least 30 but they didn't open all at the same time. We have 4 different colours and the look really lovely in bloom
