RHS Wisley, visit
11 comments
Up to RHS Wisley on Monday, mainly to see the newly planted crocus display. Unfortunately the previous days’ storm had bashed them about a bit but still nice, next year maybe?
From the cafe & morning coffee we could see the dogwoods in the sunshine, that was first stop
Then round the side of the large pond
To look back at the sculptures with dogwoods at far side of pond
Walked onto glasshouse, past beds of Hellebores
Into the glasshouse, where the last of the Lego exhibits were being packed away
After a look round, I posted the Jade vine picture in Monday’s blog for anyone who missed it
Out the rear of glasshouse to the Prairie area, where more of the Lego was being packed, somehow the zebra, ostrich etc seemed to be in their right habitat
Plus out of place Kangaroo
Onto Battlestone Hill and Azaleas
Plus Hydrangea seed heads in the sun
A look up towards the seed head sculpture at the top
And then back home, Via pub near Wisley village for late lunch

Hadn't heard about the Lego attractions. They are amazing, I think. It's a wonderful invention. (Is that the right word?)
Yes, I also liked the birds in the pond. For one moment thought they were real.
I recall seeing Hydrangea heads being collected via a tractor in a Cornish garden. I think it was Helagon. I kept ours after that and sprayed them with glitter at Christmas. :O)

I missed the Lego animals, aren't they great. Nice clear photos. What a lot you got round to see, still it made your journey up from Hants well worth while. Do you live in North or South Hants, or is it private?

Lovely. Did you all see. The Bressingham garden on GW last night? It was so lovely and full of winter colour. I love a good winter garden. As for the lego...my OH went all the way to London to see an art exhibition of Lego a couple of years ago. He loved it. I liked the look of it too, but not enough to get on a plane! The animals are nice.....but Iām not sure they fit in a garden like this...huge great lumps of plastic really.

FeverF, south Hants, north of Pompey, handy for A3, so easy now dualled & Hindhead tunnel, about 45 minutes to Wisley
RHS member so "free" annual entry which we take full advantage of
CK, the Lego was part of temporary exhibition, for half term kids attraction, we went with the grandchildren when it was in full swing, animals in the jungle sort of set up. The Recent visit the lego was on it's was out, ready for shipping to I think Chessington or Whipsnade I think
I've not yet watched GW, recorded and waiting for me
Chatting to the Lego man, they are all planned & assembled at Bordon, Hants. My grandson [12] is looking forward to that sort of job, they travel the world apparently setting them up

Absolutely love the views across the pond to the Dogwoods, the Lego Sculptures look amazing and must have been a very good attraction for the children.
Thankyou for sharing your photographs Grandad, I enjoyed the tour...

LincL, thanks, I keep trying to get the super duper view across the pond, that area is Oriental themed, but despite years of trying I've never really done it justice, thankfully with digital it is not so expensive to keep trying

Hi Granddad, from another granddad! Welcome to GoY! Hope you enjoy it on here as we are a nice little "gang"! ššš
Sounds like your visit to Wisley was fun! š Isn't it marvellous what they can do with a few million Lego bricks nowadays!
