On arrival……this is what you see…….
Wall to wall Iris……everywhere…….
A cottage garden par excellence!
Clashing colours everywhere.
The rose arch, yet to cover, but will in time be stunning.
My kind of planting :)
Monet’s art studio on the groundfloor & his bedroom above.
The famous water garden
The bridge in the distance
A close up of the bridge
Hello!
A view from the bridge.
Altogether a very beautiful garden to visit, I just loved it, sadly the water lilies were not yet in bloom but I did enjoy the cottage garden……Oh joy….so glad I have been, hope you enjoyed too.

Monet is one of my favourite artists and it is my desire to visit his garden sometime. Lovely to see the photos, thanks for sharing!

Do go Anujag, I personally think we chose the right time of year to see the Iris, but I think any time would be of interest. Thank you.

It's a beautiful garden GM...nice pic's. I love the Irises...unusual, I think , to see them planted en masse like that

That is somewhere I would really love to see.
Your pics have a wonderful sense of peace and tranquility and the iris are so beautiful - what a sight.
It must have been a very special visit for you.

Oh yes!
How lovely, you are lucky Gran.
I do like his painting and read that towards the end of his life he had cataracts so he painted as he saw the world, his early work was good but the later, in my opinion stunningly beautiful

PARADISE!!

Thanks for sharing your pics Gill, and glad you enjoyed the visit. It's lovely to see it with your own eyes, isn't it: I remember, when we were there about six years ago, being surprised to see that there were two separate gardens. But both are beautiful, and Monet was so meticulous apparently - just growing the flowers that he wanted to paint! Wonderful :))

Its lovely to see different angles on that famous lake! What a wonderful garden - thank you for the pictures - a great idea to go at this time of year.

Many thanks all, Paul, Rosie, B, Pam, ML, Costas, Sheila, DR, Cinders, Stera & Louisa & Janey, this garden can be seen in a weekend, we went on Friday and returned on Monday, by Eurostar so it was quick too. I was surprised that the gardens are split in two, we were informed that the water garden was a piece of wasteland beyond the railway that ran at the bottom of his garden, he purchased it after becoming affluent but his neighbours objected as they were worried about the expanse of the pond! Thank you for enjoying my photos.

Just stunning, Gill - thanks for showing us...and so beautifully. I've always wanted to go too. Now even more - it's all so much bigger than I'd imagined!

Little I can add it is beautiful, thanks for sharing

My pleasure Bjs...and Karen the garden is huge and split by many paths which you cannot walk down thus making it easier and more pleasurable in taking photos! do you live far away?

A group from here went last year, Grandmage, but I never got to see any photos so 'thank you' for sharing. I couldn't go as I don't have a passport and am not much of a traveller! Looks a fascinating place.
16 Jun, 2013
Thats a shame Gee, it's only a quick ride from you on Eurostar. It was raining when we went but that made it look all the fresher, it's a gardeners delight. :)

Spent a winter in a rented house, not far away from Giverney, Gill, when OH worked in Versailles...not the best time to visit a garden, though...
I could still do it from here - with a nice little stop-over...!

It's a beautiful place. I'm not too keen on his paintings of it though ... but it is a beautiful place when seen in these photos.

beautiful pictures must put it on my to do list thanks for sharing such beauty

What an inspiration. How could you live there and not take up a paintbrush? Considering how many times we've been to France it's ridiculous that we've never visited - I even lived in northern France for a year, many moons ago. I really want to go now.

Oh wow that is a beautiful garden and your photo's are stunning G'mage, thankyou so much for sharing, I'm off to Paris in September with my daughter, wondering what my chances are of putting this on our list....
17 Jun, 2013
This is on my wish list of places to see, a riot of colour!
17 Jun, 2013
Easy to not take up a paintbrush Tuesdaybear - my efforts look like a backword nursery child's pictures. Thank goodness for photography!

Just stunning. I'm not a fan of the Impressionists but hellfire that man knew gardens. I love the jewels of colour so varied. I've been trying to get there for a few years but never make it as I run out of time.

Oh Dotty not been to Giverney?? I think it depends on what time of year you go of course but we were lucky to have caught the iris as I love them. i gather the garden always looks good as there is a big team of workers there. Glad you enjoyed, I dont think my photos do it justice though.
