Here are some June views of my garden. They were taken over the last 4 weeks.
First some views in early June when it was very colourful …

And now the old Myosotis and Aquilegias have been cleared away.

A view with an arching Diarama :-

Two stone cats :-

A hardy blue Geranium and a standard Cotoneaster cornubia :-

Some views down the bottom, by the Garage :-

What’s inside it … ?
Not a car. The doors have been bricked up.
I’ll show you what’s in there one day.

… or maybe not, there are so few people on here these days, it’s hardly worth the bother.

Some shrubby views …

A little seat :-

St Francis’s corner :-

I hope you like my garden. It’s in a bit of a mess but doesn’t look so bad on these photos :o)

Lovely as always Hywel. Your Aquilegias were gorgeous.

I love your garden Hywel, it's full of interesting things and beautiful plants. Love the little seat and St Francis's corner. I'd really like to know what's in that shed!:)

Looking good Hywel, but I am a bit concerned Bella may have turned to stone!!!

I always enjoy looking at your garden Hywel - don't you dare say it isn't worth putting pictures on. It's different from most peoples' and I love the informality - a real cottage garden. Is this the first blog without a puss? The stone ones are nice but not the same!

lovely garden Hywel I am well impressed. Love St Francis area and so much interest, you are really good at creating shape and making standards like your Cotoneaster!

Keep posting pics.. it is only quiet lately because we have all been enjoying outdoors, I haven't been on the site as much in last 2 weeks as I would normally be, have made up it for this weekend :)

Lovely garden you have Hywel, I feel like I could spend hours wandering around it, so many plants! I haven't been on as much recently either but hopefully can put that right in the coming weeks.

Whenever I read one of your blogs, I just want to come down and see everything for myself, Hywel. I am so intrigued by what's in the garage now, will go mad with suspense! I thought lots of people were on here currently, as I'm struggling to keep up, as usual. Maybe that's just me.

Your garden is looking lovely, Hywel.

Beautiful garden as ever, I think I remember what is in your garage?! but I won't spoil the surprise lol
Everybody has been out in their garden or watching tennis I think Hywel, they'll be back catching up like mad!! :o)

Thanks for all your comments. I wasn't berating anyone for not looking at GoY ... just making an observation. I often miss things myself. But it does seem very quiet on here lately.

i wonder if its because we are all out gardening :o))

if your shed is anything like ours it will be a treasure trove.

1 Jul, 2013

I remember whats in you shed too, but won't spoil it. The garden is looking very colourful Hywel, and its not messy, just different from some.

Thank you both ...

Seaburngirl, if everyone's weather is like it is here, they wouldn't want to go outside the door lol. It's like December.

Thanks for keeping the 'secret' Cinderella :o) lol

Yes, I've just realised I know what's in there too, if I remember correctly!! Will be very interesting to look inside again. Agree with you about the weather tho', Hywel; hasn't been good here for a while now, horrible over the weekend but maybe March rather than December for us. Hoping Summer will return soon before I lose interest altogether.

Looking good as always, Hywel - no time for you to spend in the garage, obviously! I have been spending quite a lot of time clearing stuff - like myosotis, hellebores and dicentra - it's all too easy for emerging stuff to become swamped when the garden is full. I do like full beds, though!

Thank you both :o)

a lovely garden, i like the little seating area i think that would be my favourite place in your garden. Im dying to know what you have in your garage if its not a car!!! i think i know anyway...could it be an enormous cactus??!
I think it is a bit quiet on here too but only because we are all in our gardens trying to make them look beautiful for when we put our photos on here!

2 Jul, 2013

Yes it's very quiet on here these days. I think lots have become fed up with it. I do myself sometimes, and then I take some time out.
Thanks for your comment. I will show what's in my garage soon.

I really love your garden,Hywel! I think if I had a garden it would be something like yours! My balcony is the nearest I can get to a cottage garden! My friend, Gerry, has a garden that is so full of plants I think it must remind him of the Brazilian jungles where he lived & worked for many years! In fact, & I tell him sometimes as well, that he treats the allotment as if it were the jungle! LOL!

Aha, I think I can remember what's in your garage too :) Your garden looks good whatever the season, Hywel, and I've always liked your standard Cotoneaster and St Francis statue. I will await your garage 'reveal' - it would be good to know my memory is not as bad as I sometimes think it is.

2 Jul, 2013

Hywel, your garden is beautiful and all your plants look so healthy and they seem very happy together. Thanks for sharing your beautiful pics.

All looking lovely in your garden Hywel...

3 Jul, 2013

love your garden, Hywel! Isn't June a lovely month...? was especially taken by your pic of the geranium (cranesbill)...gorgeous thing.
Still here...have noticed a reduction in "traffic" on the site too...but put it down to summer vacations.
Saw your cacti out in the middle of your garden and wondered about moisture...are you getting much rain? I repotted my cactus and it's grown a foot over winter...it's now in a large pot with a ponytail palm and a number of epi's at the base. It's sitting in the greenhouse as our summer heat has yet to arrive. Spring was very cold and a bit on the wet side...but the garden has loved it. This is my third summer here ...can't believe how time flies...and the transplants from my old garden are finally settling in...my peony bloomed well this year...last year it just sat glumly without a bud to be seen.
Everything looks very lush...St. Francis has a lovely domain!
How is that lovely Blodyn? is she blooming too?

Your garden is looking so pretty Hywel, thanks for the photos. I am not on Goy so much either, too busy and not enough hours in a week, I try to look at blogs but i know I miss some. Your blogs are always so well liked Hywel. x

Thank you all for your comments :o)

Lori the cactus in the garden was there for me to take a photo of it. It's back under cover now. We get a lot of rain - too much for cacti.
I'm pleased to hear your garden is coming along nicely. I would never have said it was that long since you moved.

Grandmage I hope people don't think I'm moaning. I was just making an observation. I have taken time off from GoY myself in the past. There are more important things in life than looking at this site :o)

3 Jul, 2013

Life takes over sometimes Hywel..........and there seems to be so little time left in my week, no-one thinks you are moaning Hywel and we all understand, at least you put on blogs which we love and if you are busy we just have to wait and look forward to them. :)

Hi Hywel I'm hanging my head (:0) only saying to a friend the other day I had been looking at GOY hadn't been on for ages, and didn't see YOUR name either. I remember when I first joined I couldn't keep off it and saw your name a lot.Been in the garden and came in to rest my back,I think now its got warmer we are all keen again hope we ALL get the nice week we have been promised.Enjoyed your pic's glad I didn't miss them........NOW I'm intrigued as to what IS in your garage!!!!!

4 Jul, 2013

Hi Poppylinda :o) Thanks for your comment ...
Yes I don't get around to see everything on here. I just stick to a few 'favourite' members. It's too much to keep up with other wise.
I wasn't berating anyone for not looking in. So you don't need to hang your head lol. I was merely saying how quiet I thought it is ... and it IS. But nothing personal was meant against any one :o)

4 Jul, 2013

I think I've guessed what's in the garage. Does it begin with P?

4 Jul, 2013

A fully loaded garden can only mean busy busy busy. Keep up the good work Hywel....

5 Jul, 2013

Enjoyed your pics Hywel.

my favorite kind of garden!
you are lucky to own it!

Lovely pictures Hywel, like so many, I'm trying to catch up too. How do you like the heat? I think it's a little too much for some of my flowers. I bought some succulents in May I think, they're not hardy and are in a bowl in my porch. The other day I was amazed to find the bowl full of small fungus lol. The succulents didn't seem to mind, I hope they flower this year:-))

18 Jul, 2013

Thank you. It's a job to keep up with it isn't it lol ... I just stick to a few fav members, and even then I get behind ! :D

I love succulents. Strange to find fungus growing with them. Have they got enough drainage and gritty compost ?

As for the heat, I can cope with it better than frost and snow. I hope it's not getting you down too much..
I have lots of plants wilting in the garden. I'll have to water some tonight I think.

18 Jul, 2013

Hywel, they are in compost with a lot of vermiculite, is that ok? I think the compost must have had mushroom spores in it. They look ok, wish I had bought hardy ones now, but I thought tender ones would flower better. I've forgotten the names too:-)

24 Jul, 2013

I believe vermiculite retains moisture, and succulents don't like compost that stays damp. The fact the fungus grew in the first place means the compost is damp. I think it's better to grow them in gritty compost.

24 Jul, 2013

Thanks Hywel, I've got a bag of grit somewhere, will it be ok to use just compost or does it have to be John Innes type?:-)

25 Jul, 2013

Ordinary compost will do. As long as there's good drainage I think they'll be fine :o)
