Now that the flowering plants are finishing, it’s nice to notice different leaf colours, shapes and textures :o)
In my garden, many shrubs are showing colourful autumn tints already. It seems to be happening earlier this year.
Some others are variegated, or have a different colour naturally …
like these Cotinus leaves …
And they contrast nicely with the golden leaves of the Fuchsia Genii.
I like them in the rain :o)
.
Euonymus :-
.
Euphorbia :-
.
Fothergilla major :-
.
Hedera helix – Ivy – spreads between all the slabs :-
.
Heuchera (Sweet Tea) :-
.
Ilex – Holly ‘Golden King’
Made into a lop-sided standard tree :-
The berries haven’t turned red yet, as you can see … but I hope they will for Christmas …
It looks nice in the rain :o)
.
Lonicera crassifolia ‘Little Honey’ :-
.
I call this my leaning lollipop tree – Lonicera nitida …

A house plant for most of the year, this Tradescantia zebrina turns a lovely purple when I put it outside for the summer :o)
.
A small Weigellia with dark leaves :-
.
I don’t know what this is called :-
I’ve had it many years, and it never grows much.
It’s got sharp thorns, but the leaves are pretty :o)
.
We’re having very pleasant weather here these days, so it’s possible to enjoy the garden in the sunshine …
I hope you all have some sun :o)

Yesterday was lovely and sunny, but today it's never broken through at all.
I love so many of the autumn colours and your garden has lots...but they herald winter and I hate that :(

All lovely. Raindrops make leaves stunning. I like Cotinus with the sun shining through the leaves as well. Bella is more beautiful than ever isn't she? Did you buy the lonicera as a standard or train it yourself? Looks very nice like that.

Great Hywel - how old is it now?

Thank you Holly and Xela :o)
Steragram it's about 10 yrs since I took the Lonicera cuttings, and they were minute. After they grew, I kept them as little bushes, buy cutting them all the time.
I only made this one onto a lollypop tree last year (2012)

I love this time of the year, the colours change daily both in our gardens and out in the countryside, we are having some lovely days and would you believe I had to have the hosepipe out to top up my waterbutts yet again.
