Hywel, I'm truly amazed by your tremendous collection, just wonderful. I didnt realise cacti flowered so freely, I cannot begin to imagine how you manage to look after them so well.

I remember my grandparents having a big fat dark green one on their window sill for years and then one that looked like a tarrantula. I love to see Christmas cacti in flower. I dont know much about cacti but yours have inspired me Hywel.

All the cactii have beautiful flowers, it's a real pleasure looking at the photos. Do they flower for long?

23 Sep, 2013

"what is otm ..." = "Over the Moon" I imagine, Hywel!

I loved every photo of your cacti! You must have a very good camera to be able to get such close up photos in such sharp detail! I only noticed a little blurriness in just one photo as I've seen it in my close ups as well.

23 Sep, 2013

How long did it take you Hywel to create this amazing blog.

23 Sep, 2013

Thank you all for your comments about my cacti, and the explanation for otm :o)
Yes I am otm with my cacti :o)

Neena I am pleased you like my cacti :o)

Lijemc, they flower at different periods, and for different lengths of time ... eg some only flower in the spring, others have been flowering for a few months non stop etc.

Balcony - I have a Fujifilm camera. Most of the photos I take are no good. I crop them to have close-ups.

Linda it has taken many months for me to write this blog, because I've been uploading the photos as and when the cacti have been flowering ... since last spring lol
The Astrophytum flowered a few days ago, so I could then finish the blog :o)

Really enjoyed your blog Hywel. Thanks for showing us.the flowers on cacti are quite spectacular. I particularly liked the Gymniocalciums, but they were all lovely. Are they all kept in a green house or are some of them outside in the summer?

Pure magic Hywel, absolutely wonderful. You should have Open Days. The Echinocereus rigidissimus looks like those cheerleaders with washing up mop things that they wave about (don't know what they are called!)

Hi Hywell, I'm not particularly fond of cacti.......maybe because I've only been aquainted with the ones that look like the ones is spaghetti westerns in minature!!! Yours are absolutely beautiful. In some of them the spikes look like a lace cover and the flowers are amazing.
