September garden - back garden

We haven’t had a nice September so far this year, it’s been rather cold and the garden looks like it usually does in October.
However some things have grown well and need cutting back now …
like this Helianthemum hiding my ornamental cats !

Peep-o :D

Shame it hasn’t flowered …

My Tamarix tree is also very big and suffocating the other plants near and under it, so it’s due for a good haircut after it finishes flowering next year :)

On my new trellises things are doing well, like this rose ‘Gentle Hermione’ and Clematis ‘Betty Corning’

And this Clematis ‘Madam Julia Corrivon’ which I hope will give a good show next year :-

Two other Clematises are full of flowers for us this autumn …
Kaiu :-

and Clematis chiisanensis :-

Karen sent me that one many years ago …

Coming back to the trellises, look at how tall this Cotinus has got with the trellis to grow against !

My Abelia has also enjoyed being by the trellises, and has grown bigger than it has ever been,
but will have to be moved because it’s hiding a pretty Ilex.

My Sambucus nigra was getting too big so I thought I’d try and train it along this wrought iron fence. It seems to like it :)

A few other September flowers …

Hemerocallis :-

Impatiens in a pot :-

A lovely Lycestra Golden Lanterns which Dawn Saunt sent me :-

Some lovely blue Lobelias :-

To end with here’s a view down the garden …

The plants in the foreground are Cryptomeria spiralis which Sandra sent me years ago from Corside,
and Cyperus alternifolius which Bella likes to chew !

Beautiful Hywel and I'm still envious of your lovely trellis.

well September is looking very good in your garden. And I can see flower buds on you reluctant Helianthemum so fingers crossed it will open for you.

I also grow Betty Corning, she is a nice shape and colour isn't she?

The trellis is really rewarding you Hywel - what lovely climbers you have. You wouldn't know it was so new! The Clematis chiisinensis is amazing - never seen a yellow one before. Is it actually climbing - it looks self supporting in the photo. Missing Bella in your recent blogs!

Thankyou for the lovely photos of your garden Hywel. You still have some colour there. Love the kittens playing peek-a-boo. It's 12 degrees here first thing this morning. The grass is going to need another cut...….

Missed this one, I love your stone cats.....and would love to buy Gentle Hermione, isn't she beautiful? rather partial to your clematis selection too! the trellis has worked well for you hadn't it, yours is a truly floral garden.

Thank you. I could send you a cutting of Gentle Hermione if you want. It needs cutting back anyway.
