I always take my camera now Eileen everywhere I go. I won't put a photo of what I look like on my walk. lol I have old torn jeans and a battered anorak and one of those furry caps on my head.
The one time I forgot to take my camera when I was taking Beryl home over the mountain and I saw a red kite very close. It would have made a good photo. It's like a fisherman describing the one thet got away. lol
We're having a shower of sleet now :o(
9 Dec, 2008
sleet? oh no Hywel, that always seems worse to me than rain, its usually so icy then.

I hope it turns to rain or pref dries up - I have to take my mother for an appointment later on. Have a good day Eileen :o)

Blues skies here, but very c-c-c-c-c-c-cold. :o)
9 Dec, 2008
you too Hywel. fingers crossed that it clears up there for you
9 Dec, 2008
doesnt sound too bad there TT. least its dry.
was it frosty there this morning?
9 Dec, 2008
Sounds cold Eileen. We have had some really hard frosts here, but they are weird. When Ray goes out to work at 5.45, there is nothing and by 7 o clock the ground is thick with frost.......Strange. Wrap up warm Hywel

Bright sunshine in this part of Kent this morning. I managed to coax Chloe along to the woods but once through the gate she became very agitated so we had a much quicker walk home!! Took my camera but the squirrels and birds were too far away to snap so it never came out of the case.

Hywel, those 'furry caps' are in fashion this year! Trapper hats they call them, see loads of people wearing them when I'm stood on markets.
Jacque...Brrrr, -5...colder than here. We've had rain but sunny now, bit chilly. Coming to Norfolk at Xmas, will have to remember my thermals!
9 Dec, 2008
Thick thermals for Norfolk !!!
Yesterday, the morning frost was weird.
Some areas had none, but in others it was really thick like snow, and yet there seemed no particular reason why some areas of ground were frosty and some weren't.

We had rain this morning, i had to take Smokey for an injection this morning, usually get the bus with him but as it was raining i had to get a taxi, but this afternoon it as turned bitterly cold but dry & sunny.

I hope everyone has kept warm today. We've had sleety showers all day but it isn't frosty so I think I'll cope.lol

Funny - well, not for all of you - we had a reasonable day today. No frost, a light breeze, a bit cloudy but not cold! I planted up three new acquistions when I got back from Henry's (muddy) walk! I haven't even lit the logburner yet and it's nearly 6 o'clock!
I am cross because I forgot my camera this morning and got within a few feet of a buzzard - first sitting in the middle of a field and then on a telegraph pole. I stood and watched him and was glad I had, because guess what he did next before he flew away!
Clue - I would have got splatted! LOL.

Have never known such hard frosts hydrangeas and hardy fuschias really hit hard .
Really interesting to see in other countries feeding wild birds illegal. Think ours would say its illegal not to !
So many dependent on us over winter months.
9 Dec, 2008
i would always feed the birds Bonkers, hate if it was made illegal

Eileen I was out in that freezing cold rain as Jacque described in Norfolk last night.. at midnight ..travelling the motorway I had to take hubby in for an emergency they kept him in to Operate I then went back to fetch him today .
9 Dec, 2008
omg Amy is he ok?
9 Dec, 2008
Yes he,s o.k Eileen thanks for asking , he,s been snoozing since coming home , I was always telling him about lifting heavy pots and things in the garden , he had a Hernia which was bursting , he is very bruised and sore lots of stitches but pleased to be home ....
Hospitals are horrible places to be at night , they lock doors up , I had to get a slip from the nurse to show the security man to get to the machines to pay for the car park to get out , and because most of the doors are locked you have to walk round the hospital to get to one place that is open miles away from your car . I felt like the only person in he world that was awake .
9 Dec, 2008
well Amy im glad he is home. hopefully it will be a quick recovery.
know what you mean about hospitals at night time, sign of the times i guess Amy. security all over the place .
our local hospital you have to be buzzed in by the staff and thats day and night. isnt it awful that you have to pay for parking your car there. most hospitals here are like that now
9 Dec, 2008
I think it,s dreadful that you have to pay to park at hospitals , nobody is ill on purpose ... and they always keep you waiting for hours .
He is even more in pain this morning Eileen , since the feeling has come back , It,s going to be a few days before he feels better I think ..........
10 Dec, 2008
~so sorry about your husband being so poorly~I hope he will be back to his old self asap!
It is sad that the hospitals need to raise money and have to be so security conscious to prevent the staff being attacked! We don't pay any more but you have to get tokens given if you can confirm you are a patient or a visitor~there is a uni next door to our main hospital and lots of students looking for car parking spaces~ there is always a queue for spaces for the people who are there for a medical purpose which is time consuming and may make for late appointments!
