Is this a joke ? I have all three !

25 Jul, 2009

thats what i was wondering Hywel. i did google it and there is something in tomorrows papers about it

25 Jul, 2009

OMG Eileen .... are they having a laugh.

25 Jul, 2009

I saw on google and it mentioned England. I wonder if they really mean only England - sometimes 'England' is used to mean 'Britain'.
It wouldn't affect you though Eileen, would it ?

25 Jul, 2009

nuts isnt it , but nothing would suprise me Dawn

25 Jul, 2009

well hywel we usually follow each other, laws than come in here usually are brought into England and visa versa

25 Jul, 2009

I'm wondering if the Welsh Assembly Government will do it ? or if it's only going to be in England.

25 Jul, 2009

That has got to be the most ridiculous thing I have heard in my entire life. So do they want us all to park our cars on the road, drink wine by candle light in the local park and if you think about it they already recieve payment from people who have views.
If two houses are for sale on the same road and one has a view and the other doesn't, which one is going to be more expensive and have a higher 'stamp' duty?
Money grabbing, no good, lousy, dead beat,..........ooooooh and to think I voted for the jumped up wasters.

25 Jul, 2009

I've just been reading about it online and it appears its more than just a rumor, about half of the houses in GB have already been re-assessed (there might be to many sses in there but I have been down the local park with a bottle of red!!)
Council tax is supposed to be about paying for water, sewage, the emergency services etc. nothing to do with whether you have a patio or not. They even want to tax you for living near a bus stop???????????????
I just can't think of any words that adequately describe these ........... people and still be acceptable on GoY

25 Jul, 2009

The page I read mentioned England.
I wonder if that means England only, or does it mean the whole of britain ? ( ie Wales and Scotland and Ireland aswell )

25 Jul, 2009

Come back Oliver Cromwell or even Robin Hood ;) do we know anyone who"s a direct desendent ? English Goverment PLC > Lets solve every problem wth a tax, there all Corrupt....VIVA LA REVOLUTION.

26 Jul, 2009

I read about this several months ago, it's definately something they wanted to do then, so maybe they've pushed it forward :(

26 Jul, 2009

I heard about this ridiculous proposed tax a few years ago just before we moved here. We now pay approximately 20 Euros a YEAR to cover the upkeep of roads, village lighting, bin collection etc; 7 Euros was our portion of payment for the local council to keep the local mountain trails clear of overgrown plants and trees (AND we were allowed to "harvest" the fallen trees for logs); we pay no water rates as we get fresh spring water direct from underground wells; we learn Spanish at evening classes twice a week FREE. All this and we have the most magnificent views, two large patios and a separate boilerhouse/shed. How much better can it get? Moving, anyone?

26 Jul, 2009

I wouldnt put anything past the evil that lurks within the Labour government.
They have lied and lied since 1997 just about everything.
It is a notable fact that everything the 'New' Labour Party has touched has turned to muck.
They have squandered millions and millions of pounds on riduculous projects, think tanks, QUANGOs, NGOs. They are responsible for this country GB PLC and they have run it into the ground. They are soley responsible for allowing the banks to get out of control. They WERE warned by but they let it run.
We are pumping £40.000.000 a day into that endless hole 'ECU' where is that money coming from?????
Its time we pulled the plug on that one.
85% of the tax we pay goes to the public sector who are 30% of the total work force the remainder is left to prop up public services.
No onder they are clutching at straws to grab any money from anywhere.
I for one will resist. Its time for civil unrest and protest. They did it for the poll tax and won. Whatever your politics for God sake go and and tick the box and kick the useless bunch of incompetent fools out on their arses

26 Jul, 2009

well i cant say what i want so i will just put BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP......... bring back guyfawks

26 Jul, 2009

When is a garage not a garage ? Is a room considered to be a garage if the up-and-over door is sealed up and the area is used for storage ?

When is a patio not a patio ? Is a small group of paving slabs decreed to be a patio ?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. When is a scenic view not a scenic view ?

26 Jul, 2009

so it is true , its unbelievable .
lol Nariz you may have a lot new neighbours there soon

26 Jul, 2009

I'm stunned, I don't have a garage or a scenic view, but do have a small paved area you could call a patio. Have they all gone totally barmy, I'm with San on this one, just a load of BLEEPS. If I wasn't too old, I might join you Nariz!!!

26 Jul, 2009

The Government has no money. This is them clawing back some of the money this country has lost. From us, the citizens, who have already lost jobs, homes, income, pensions.....how are we expected to pay extra? As council tax is based on the supposed worth of your house, two questions arise. When house prices slumped why didn't it go down? And when, like me you don't own your house you rent, it doesn't matter what it is worth it ain't yours! So, there should be a different tax for rental properties. Or the landlord should be taxed, mine ownes loads of properties!
The only service we have is rubbish collection, no street lights, roads are not swept or gritted in winter.
I would not live anywhere else, but neither will I pay more for living here. We resisted the poll tax years ago, we must resist this too.

26 Jul, 2009

I knew about all this along time ago about 3 yrs ago it was part of Tony Blair s project thats why he ariel views and incouraging you all to show your homes gardens etc so he could see who has got what . I try and warn people but no one wants to know, why do think that when google takes photos of your area why do you think they are doing it they also can see straight inside your houses by the way a tip on what s comming next they are going to put camera s in our homes, when I tried to warn people about the no smoking what was comming in, every one said no and did nt want to know and they wont stop at no smoking either. I hope they start with the mps homes, I chat to young usa men and their gov have made it sound hip to have these cameras in their homes now they have caught on too late. by the way if you fear tax fear for your health go look at the IMVA which is International Medical Veritas, Association Assault on Humanity, cant say any more as I have already been warned by one gardener on here about talking political how none of the jabs are tested any more before giving to humans. If any one cannot find this site send your email and I will forward it my millionaire cousin sent it to me by email to warn me so I would have to forward you the email.

26 Jul, 2009

One thing they are not is fools. They always make sure that they are above and beyond anything damaging to themselves. I have long held the view that an honest politician is an oxymoron.
To qualify as a politician you need to be able to lie wth conviction, never answer a question with a yes or no and make sure that whatever you do to the rest of the country will not adversely affect you personally. They have even managed to wriggle out of the expenses scandal just as they were leaving for the recess. The expenses scandal was only the tip of the iceberg, the main point is that these dishonest, corrupt crooks are running our country as a business for their own gratification. Try reading manifesto's by any party, especially the one by labour that put them into power and see how many of their promises came to anything. Irish will know better than most of us that the referendum on The Treaty was a NO fo r the government so they now have to return to the polls until they get the answer right.

26 Jul, 2009

A tax on patios ? Cant be any foundation in that .

I d be especially worried if I were you Eileen as seen you convert yours to a swimming pool on a few occassions !

26 Jul, 2009

lol im doomed BB , doomedd i tells ya

26 Jul, 2009

exactly Toto, the No vote here just didnt sit well with them so now we are having another referendum in October , where basically we were warned vote Yes or else.

guess what ill be voting lol

26 Jul, 2009

Irish was that a corporal fraser impression from Dads Army?

26 Jul, 2009

the problem is to, like myself we all moan and rightly to, but also as a nation we dont stand up and be counted, we just let this keep happening, last time anyone made a stand was when margrett thatcher gave us poll tax, other countries wouldnt put up with it

26 Jul, 2009

:-) Mac

26 Jul, 2009

exactly Sandra, we could all learn something from the french, my god is anyone knows how to protest its them

26 Jul, 2009

Let me tell you I know things that are going to happen and you will be horrified put it this way who do you think is in control let me know and I will reveal the answer like a quiz here is a clue concentration camps.

26 Jul, 2009

Won't affect those who won't work or those who decide that this country is paved with gold though. The rest of us will pay for them too.

26 Jul, 2009

o.m. g....... how stupid...... fancy wanting to tax those of us that want to make our gardens better.......as least it wont affect one of my neighbours, as there garden is awful.........lol

26 Jul, 2009

do they have a parking space Holly, they could be taxed on that lol

26 Jul, 2009

they have a garage and a drive...lol

26 Jul, 2009

a double tax for them so lol

26 Jul, 2009

yea......lol

26 Jul, 2009

If we block up our windows we won't have a view so that is on tax out of the way. Remember the window tax.

26 Jul, 2009

remember it well Toto and hedge schools lol

26 Jul, 2009

What's "too old" Pamazon? I'm 66 in a couple of days' time and I'm skipping around like a 2-year-old. Well .... alright ...... maybe like a 65-year-old!

26 Jul, 2009

If a blind person or someone with impaired eyesight had a patio to sit out on,I wonder if they too would be taxed.

26 Jul, 2009

There's nothing I can add to all of your great comments except...New Labour are full of s***e.

26 Jul, 2009

Boy when you open a can of worms Irish, you certainly make it a commercial sized tin.
I think Sanbaz has hit the nail on the head, we, as a nation, are a bunch of moaners but will we do anything about it? I don't really think so. We now live in a society where there is absolutely no sense of community or belonging. We don't look out for each other anymore and we certainly 'haven't got the time' to do anything about it!!!
Why do you think you sat glued to Mookins blog about the drunk man? because it was different to the norm, we don't do things like that anymore, we cross over and point out some nice flower in a garden so as to ignore the real situation and keep our heads buried in the sand. I'm as guilty as the next man (or woman) when it comes to burying my head, I've crossed the road and pointed out the nice flower but its nothing bad its what we are taught to do now.
My (ex) mother in law is in the medical profession and when she went to learn all about artificial respiration, she was told, under no circumstances, was she to use this knowledge if she saw anyone in trouble in public, just in case they didn't make it and their family tried to sue for negligence ??
Rant over
I know there are still a lot of very nice well meaning people with a backbone around but (being as polite as I can) none of us are getting any younger and the next generations just don't have our upbringings.
I believe that whenever this tax comes into action we will belly ache about it but will still put our hands in our pockets and pay up while we do. Nariz's comment is more tempting than ever right now. :~((

26 Jul, 2009

I don't have a garage, I hae a dumping room.
I don't have a patio, I have a terrace
I don't have a nice view, I have a beautiful garden

Now tax that!!!

26 Jul, 2009

I'd better not say what I REALLY want to say!!!!!!I don't think the Labour Party will do anything just now...come on....there's an election next year and they will be DESPERATE for our votes...look what happened in Norwich. I don't mind telling you. I am a great believer that EVERYONE who has a vote should use it...always.......I have never voted Labour in my life and I never will, even if there was no other party to vote for..they have ruined this country and everything it stands for, and we are a laughing stock all over the world. They will tax us for breathing next......right I'm off for a large whisky now.....CHEERS :)))))))

26 Jul, 2009

Alice, better make that several large whiskys !!!!
There's a lot of us that need it !

26 Jul, 2009

hear hear hick hick lol

26 Jul, 2009

Janey Mac - Eileen what have you been up to when I have been gone a day !!! - in my opinion it is way to subjective to enforce such a tax - I agree with TT was going to say that too, maybe not as eliquently - as Irish says we get to do the YES NO vote again here in Ireland - cause they wanted to give us another go becuse they reckin we didn't understand the question - Honestly - well I will be voting for the same as last time and if we as a nation get it "wrong" again they will probabley get us to vote a third time until we get it right !!

26 Jul, 2009

PS Eileen don't be worring too much about the Patio Tax I think noone would insist you pay it :-) sorry could't resist to get that in

26 Jul, 2009

Sorry Alice and Louise you cant drink Whisky either sorry but that kills too proberbly all the pesticides they spray on the crops. when this tax for patios first came out a few years ago which bewilders me that none of you knew about it I ve know for ages, but like Ian said every one crosses over and belives that its not going on, they said it was new patios first it was all to do with the rain drain as I call it as it creates floods and if you put a patio with the new stuff which rain seeps through and does nt flood they would not tax you. Sorry Ian the information I know yes you will experience it as you are a main target of whats to come because you are older and its nothing to do with tax either. :)

26 Jul, 2009

They can tax this
(mookins pulls a mooney)

so there

26 Jul, 2009

Hawwww MOOKINS tut, tut, tut, Lol.
Perhaps if we all go down/up to downing street (I'm feeling dizzy already !) and pulled moonie's together they might get the idea of how we feel about them Lol.

26 Jul, 2009

lol Moonkins

26 Jul, 2009

Just read all this, and Have to say that our local newspaper here in the Borough of Havering, a few months ago, stated that the local council were bringing in a new tax within the next couple of year, on all outbuildings...including greenhouses......the mind boggles...should we dig our garden paths up yet? do you think..........

26 Jul, 2009

You could take your address off google as the goverment look on to see what you have, but if you do they investigate deeper into you.

26 Jul, 2009

Better check the back garden at 10 Downing Street. I'm sure there must be a cabinet-sized patio out there. Or have they covered it over and called it a laboratory (well it wouldn't be a conservatory now would it?)

26 Jul, 2009

lol Andrew I like it but they would find a way to make the public purse pay for theres like their 2nd homes

26 Jul, 2009

sorry guys lol.
Milky can you just imagine if they start taxing out buildings too.
where would they stop

26 Jul, 2009

surely they cant taxyou on views? else they would tax you for views on holiday, views at a friends house

and how come they can tax you on something you already paid tax for. You had to pay extra for getting the pation slabs/gravel,bricks cement etc

no wonder more and more people are moving out of so called "Great Britain"

27 Jul, 2009

Could you get away with saying "well I don't like that view"? They also want to tax you for living near a bus stop, but what if you just can't use buses?

27 Jul, 2009

yeah or say I dont use the view. Im too short to see the view.
Patio? what Patio this is just an open plan area for storing, pots, kidstoys,a spare table and chairs with wine

bunch of beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

27 Jul, 2009

Lol :-))

27 Jul, 2009

I think we pay far too much tax already, don't you? I hope they don't want to force this one through - but ANYTHING is possible, isn't it..and do we get a say? No. Not until the next General Election, anyway!

27 Jul, 2009

It wont make much difference I heard last night on talk sport a london radio station that the conservatives are going to tax us to the hilt. so we cannot win either way unless a radical change is made. Talk sport I have learned thing years or months before you s get to know on tv or other radios as it on the edge of broadcasting and plenty have been sacked as they have gone over the edge one known as James Whale for eg. If you want to learn things that is kept from us most of the time this stations let you know prior, I knew 3 yrs before they were going to ban smoking and the bloke said they wont stop there I knew about Mars too by the way Mars has an under ground city which they have not told you about the russian satilite picked it up a few years ago. From 10 oclock at night.

27 Jul, 2009

What we need is to know the basic rate of income tax in other countries so we can compare what we pay. In Sweden for example, it is 40p in the pound

27 Jul, 2009

Yes thats a good idea Andrew.

27 Jul, 2009

Google it!

27 Jul, 2009

Would it be public knowledge?? I suppose it might...

27 Jul, 2009

I'm sure the EU will have the details and they are supposed to be 'transparent'

27 Jul, 2009

I know they are all the same even europe money grabbers the lot of them their interest is not with us only to make the rich richer and control wait and see if I am right. Our goverment took a lot off the nett so we wont find out.but you never know you might get it from google.

27 Jul, 2009

I understand from the Welsh Assembly Government that there are no plans to re-band properties in Wales according to whether there is a patio, view etc.

I don't know if they've said the truith and I don't know if there are separate plans for Scotland and England.
Nothing would surprise me.

28 Jul, 2009

Perhaps it's another tax on the English to pay for the Scottish and Welsh Parliaments. Grrrrr :-(

28 Jul, 2009

I won't say what I think about that. It isn't garden-related :o)

28 Jul, 2009

ive just read all your comments ,i think you all should start a party of your own.[drinks anyone]that was great reading.

28 Jul, 2009

cheers Swanky, any beer going :-)

28 Jul, 2009

I'll have one too please :o)

28 Jul, 2009

Can me why Edit comment keep coming up on my blogs?

28 Jul, 2009

Our local council re~bands every 10 years, they say, but how can they put tax up when all housing has devalued? People can no longer afford to move, so they are going to be penalised for improving.......What a country.....

28 Jul, 2009

it will come up incase you want to change your comment Swanky

28 Jul, 2009

If ...IF I am repaid all the tax we have paid on our improvements here (17.5% vat that is) plus interest, then maybe...MAYBE I would agree to their proposed taxing.
I would also want them to pay us damages for designating us a National Park, failing to keep the roads, failing to police effectively, failing to supply uninterupted power, causing unecessary noise pollution with low flying planes (air forces of GB and USA), flouridisation of the water supply,Price differentials on all necessities(petrol, food etc are ALL more expensive here) wage differentials(people here work for anywhere between 5-15% less than their counterparts in England and have to travel further for it).
I could go on and on...
The truth is They do not care what we think they have realised that only about half of the population vote anyway, and out of that half only about a quarter are needed to vote in a govt. this is not a democracy they know it and we WILL have to do what THEY the minority want us to.
Bye bye my beloved patio...bye bye my beloved sun terrace...bye bye ponds windows and anything else they try to tax it makes me want to cry but if they have to go I hope they do not expect me to co-operate with them over anything ever again for I WILL refuse, in memory of that which I have lost!

5 Aug, 2009

i hope it doesnt come to this Indy

5 Aug, 2009

Irish I hope and pray that the people of Eire vote NO resoundingly and thus set the stage for us to get a referendum on the EU, if not then we are finally irrevocably in (on an act of HIGH TREASON) and all our ancient and inalienable (SUPPOSEDLY) rights will be lost.
There are then few real answers for any ordinary folk who just want to live peaceably and do their gardening, feed their families etc. We can see every day on the news the tactics totalitarian regimes use on their people and its now coming to a police station near you, in fact its already here they just do not implement it yet as it could be challenged in LAW once in the EU there are NO challenges that can be heard, Believe it or read the so called constitution carefully.
I suppose I'll be told off for being over political on this subject, but ... the future of ALL our gardens is at stake and i will fight for mine in any way I can..

5 Aug, 2009

lol Indypendant, you all dont get it I have tried to warn you all about this and no one listens so be it, we are now in a police state, that get bonus's for what I am about to say. and we are under the ONE WORLD GOVERMENT !!!! they are controlling all of us now bit by bit, and its your children that will be getting the worse of this, eg last night I heard on talk sport news a 9yr old has now got a criminal offence against him, what for do you ask,??? for climbing a tree, in Gloustershire, check it out, yes just climbing a tree, so scrumping is now out, and the harmless games like we use to play, mischiviousness. The usa I chat too say we are the laughing stock of the world with our cameras etc as these are not used for crime, as they claim, we are like an experiment, can you all not see it. They set man against man to occupy you while they are up to no good so you 's dont notice. eg the swine flu what a laugh ha ha ha. As for High Treason how can that be now Tony Blair behind our backs signed all the englishness away. So eg if you do any thing now in this country at one time you would be tried here now you can say some thing about another country and you have to go there to be tried, Like the bloke who denied the jews also the english chap who got into the nassa pc. I also heard that Germany and usa have plans for the disabled and oaps and it is said that usa is now the 4th riegn.

5 Aug, 2009

dont worry Indy, myself and a few folk i know will be voting the exact same way as last time .

5 Aug, 2009

Morgana I am entirely concious of your arguments and have a deep apreciation of where we are as regards the NWO, there is still time to do some things to remedy the situation we are in TPUC on the net and others are places to look.
We ARE in a police state but they still are challengable through and in law! nufff said here, will speak happily to you through PMs if you like.
I am glad to see awareness like yours is out there and will be pleased to share knowledge with any who seek it.

The folk on this site are good folk who are trying their best to live, some with more knowledge of some areas than others and here I mean ALL areas and ALL on here, we each know different things in different degree to the next person . Educating others to understand the things they don't IS a difficult business fraught with problems, but scare tactics and too much info can as soon alienate as convert.
Rightly I think this site does not encourage any one to go too deeply into political issues, there are after all other forums for that and we should respect this sites wishes. I'm here to talk gardens and my love of what WE all grow and build in our little domains. inevitably we are dragged back to the real world outside our doors and control only too soon, so lets enjoy the holiday from that , that this place gives us while it is still here for us to do so.

Irish, I sincerely hope that your country does act strongly against this EU (NWO), and gives us the chance to do the same thing without you who are effectively now the conciousness of Europe and the final decisionon the final question we are all lost... good luck my friend !

5 Aug, 2009

I am only relaying what I hear off the Radio if that is a crime I am sorry, I see that politics here is a no go, only by some and I was warned by a freind, I will not bother again. Thank you, for your info. Great shame my grandfather ever helped Keir Hardy form the labour party.

5 Aug, 2009

Late to this one, but must add that am now reading of Govt plans to tax conservatories - like going back 300 years to the window/ chimney/ hearth taxes - any excuse for Govt to make folks pay for the messes we paid for already in taxes!! Soon we'll be taxed on breathing, to pay for the space we take up in cemeteries/our final contribution to air pollution, or whatever!!

3 Oct, 2009

nothing would surprise me David, tax every thing they would if they could

3 Oct, 2009

Shame we could nt all stand to gether and be mps our selves, just need funding or all stand to gether and not vote like Indy said.

3 Oct, 2009

Am very late to this...and it doesn't apply to me ....but i was wondering......instead of sitting on the patio having wine as someone said very early on...why not have a 'tea' party...we did here

Our tea party was in Boston Harbor, and was against taxes levied by a government who did not give us a voice...so now is a time for tea, no? :)

=^..^=

28 Oct, 2009

Oh lucky you Healerwitch ..your ancestors able to kick our Government out of your country because they tried to impose such taxes - amongst many other things ..dont suppose we could send them back to you again ?

Happy to have a tea party if able to get rid of them like you did ! lol

28 Oct, 2009

Well Bonkersbon, we have our own tax happy government now, guess they learned from the old folks back there! lol

28 Oct, 2009

What I would do to get rid of them right now!
Do you think a Boston style tea party would do the trick?

28 Oct, 2009

Perhaps some will have better luck on November 5th one year? :-)

28 Oct, 2009

Lol Andrew there is a shop close by that said he knows some one who will do it.
