Happy Easter to everyone, enjoy Spring emerging and evolving in our gardens.
I’ve posted a few pictures from Springtime many years ago with fond memories..
A patient and his wife lived in a lovely old house with pretty gardens, an orchard and a paddock. I loved to visit them both, they were a smashing couple. I really enjoyed hearing them relay past travels and work life..and mastering the art of gardening, of course!
Once we’d finished all the essential medical bits, we always took a stroll around the gardens..camera in hand. I learned quite a bit from the pair of them, I still miss them dearly…

That is a lovely set of memories to have. Some beautiful plants they had. Do you have any of them in your garden?

Thanks Eileen, I do actually have some plants which they gave me over the several years I visited..snowdrops, aconites, hosta, ferns, alliums, to name a few.. I have driven past their house a few times, taking a detour through their village en route back over the bridge. Really just to see if anything has changed, not much that I can see, which is nice.
He was very keen on snowdrops and the paddock was filled with them in spring. He had dozens of varieties. In fact, the paddock was set up to have spring bulbs flowering in sequence throughout the season, from snowdrops, daffodils, fritillary, tulips, bluebells, crocus and so on. He timed it so well. He also had a liking for hostas too, I’d never seen so many. ( I won’t have put the flowering bulbs/plants in order of flowering).

I can just picture you all in the garden Kate. Love the red tulip pic. The garden looks absolutely wonderful. And the gardeners sound very special.

Thank you Karen, that’s a really kind thought. They were such an interesting, kind couple. Lovely big front garden too, with a horseshoe drive, then all the beautiful surroundings. We had some great conversations over the years, I’ll always remember them.
Thank you, Paul.
Sue, thank you kindly, what a lovely thing to say! It’s made me feel like I’m doing something worthwhile to help out there! I do thoroughly enjoy the work, it’s so rewarding x

Sounds like you have many fond memories to cherish and that garden shows they were special people. I have a rose from my grandmother's garden. She had the best July 4th parties with my uncle living right next door both gardens open to all. Whenever that rose blooms, it's grandma saying hello and I can almost feel her presence. Happy Easter Kate to you and your loved ones.

It was a lovely idea of yours to share your special memories of that wonderful couple who meant such a lot to you.
The tulips are gorgeous and must rival a corner of the bulb fields in Amsterdam!
I am sure that you meant a lot to them too.

Thanks Paul, Chris and Thrup.
Paul, I think it’s lovely to have a plant of any type to remember loved ones by, isn’t it! Sounds like happy family memories for you, I think I’d like to have attended those July 4th celebrations too!
Chris, that paddock was absolutely full of tulip varieties..it was a sight to behold! I’ve some pics of the pair of them together, she was a retired headmistress and he a farmer..they met through ‘goats’ of all things! They lived on the very edge of a Lincolnshire village. I drive past on the way to Scunthorpe often, brings a smile to my face..
Thanks again Thrup, it was a beautiful garden..
