A short potter to take some snaps..

I went out into our garden yesterday afternoon, Easter Sunday, to take a few snaps. It was quite pleasant weather wise, sunshine and not too cold.
We’d been to see OH’s Mum earlier and managed to keep warm in the garden, sheltered and wrapped up warm too.
Warm drinks and a lovely catch up..swapping Easter treats.
Called my parents later in the day, they have been to church over the Easter weekend, as guidelines allow.
Fortunately, we only had a slight flurry of snow last night, overnight. Today, glorious sunshine, breezy…and an icy hit of air…

Thanks Julia!!! I love that analogy re. The Pieris, it’s so fitting!!! I must use this at some point!!!
Yes, I bought two festuca at the little nursery also, I thought I’d give them a go!

Kate you do take such super photos! These are lovely. Sorry to hear its so cold up in Yorks. I remember the really deep snows we used to get up there - once we were snowed in too deep to go to school . My Mum took all morning to walk to the bus stop, where she gave up and walked back home again. Look after yourself won't you?

lovely blog Katie. I love the fern frond 'in waiting'. this is one of my favourite ferns, The primula flowers are opening nicely and the Beesia looks very happy.
The aubretia is a glorious colour too.

Great pics Kate. I’m amazed to see the red bracts on your Pieris ... mine is only just flowering. We in the south are supposed to be warmer than you!

Such an eye for detail! I like the anemone leaf with its subtle, pink shade. I have a new festuca, too, and love it. I am new to these and carex and have put them in pots at first. Just hope I can keep them in fine fettle. Love your acer. They are so pretty when they first open. You have a beauty there.

Aw thank you, Sue! That’s a really lovely compliment!
It was icy cold this morning at 07:30 when I left for the office - my first day back on a phased return - lots of sunshine, but a couple of short snow flurries..
I was very tired today and felt quite nauseated..I think I should’ve left the hospital a bit earlier than I did. The matron was a bit concerned I’d worked too many hours today, so back on Thursday for only a few hours!

It is odd, Sheila. Both my Pieris in the back have the new red growth..the front one is a bit behind.

You need to be careful Kate, keep your energy levels up. Glad the matron is keeping an eye on you.
Have an warm bath and an early night.

Thank you, Ange. I have a few more grasses now in the garden...Eve likes to nibble, so I’ve increased the numbers AND to prevent her nibbling one of the next door neighbours grasses - they have a prairie style rockery..
I do have several acers..it’s the one plant that seems to thrive in our garden.

Thank you, Eileen, I appreciate your kindness. I’ve had a lovely bath and I will be in bed early. Xx

That sounds perfect Kate! I know it’s hard to take it easy when you’ve looked forward to going back to work, but it’s important to be kind to yourself.
I can now see red growth on my Pieris ... such a lovely plant 🙂.

I am getting notifications of your blogs etc. Lovely pics, like the Auricula and the leaf of that Anemone, thought it was a special nettle.

You have quite a collection there Kate and this is the best time of year when all the spring flowers and leaves show their faces.
We had a lovely Sunday with my daughter and grandaughter and sat outside all afternoon as it was quite warm in the sun!
A definite change in the weather on Monday though! No snow but a bitterly cold wind!

Thank you Sheila, it’s thoughtful of you.
I’m pleased you’ve noticed some new red growth on your Pieris! 👍

Thank you, Rose! I’m pleased you like - it is a lovely time isn’t it, to see all the new shoots and colours coming through after winter.
Good to hear you had some family time at Easter, sounds like it was a lovely day for you all! Yes, it soon turned chilly at the start of the week...

Thank you, Sue. That’s kind, appreciate your feedback too!
Yes, I found it a bit unusual, the anemone leaf..keeping an eye on it!

Thanks Kate. Sadly the red growth on my Pieris suffered “frostbite” last night 🙁. But I’m sure there will be new bracts soon ...

Oh crikey...that’s a pity, Sheila. Hopefully it’ll recover and as you say you’ll see some new red bracts soon 🤞

Thank you, Klahanie.

Thank goodness Matron ids keeping an eye on you. Nothing to be gained by too much heroism - for goodness sake take it slowly.

Thank you, Paul! That’s a really lovely message! I appreciate it..
Funnily enough, the pinkish leaved one is shooting up from a Japanese anemone...I planted it about 3 years ago and it always gives me one flower! It’s been like a tiny miniature! Odd..maybe this year it’ll grow!!!
