Christmas evening walk.

We decided to go out for an evening walk at 5pm..it was bitter cold! However, it seemed a good idea after Christmas lunch earlier.
We wrapped up well, in several layers! I took a pic of the minster, but, it’s not great as we were not really close enough sadly.
We hardly spotted anyone about…3 people in total on the way down to the marina/old town..and about a handful of dog walkers on the way back an hour and a half later.
However, it felt good to get out in the fresh air aka icy cold weather. It had been a sunny Christmas Day here, no rain no snow.
I hope you’ve all had a really lovely, special day!
Best wishes to you all and once again, Happy Christmas! x

Thank you kindly, Janey!
It definitely was a lovely evening despite the very cold wind chill factor.
I hope you too, have had a really lovely day x

Nice photos of your home town. I like to see the streets lit up at this time of year when it is often cold and dull. Nice photos of you too. Damp in Surrey, but not very cold. Would like to see a bit of sun & crispy air.

Guess you don't often see the town so totally bereft of a living soul! Good for you for going for a walk!

Thank you, Josee. I appreciate your lovely thoughts.
I like to see all the lights at Christmas time through to Hogmanay..especially when it's frosty/misty in the evenings.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you'll see some of that sunshine and crispy fresh air soon!

That's a lovely walk Kate, and good to see you all wrapped up nice and warm

Thanks Sue! Yes, it was almost like a ghost town. Very ethereal and so quiet..
We thought most people would be sleeping off their long lunches and festive drinks!!! That is, before evening tv.
We thought we were mad going out initially bit pleased we did!

Aw thanks Klahanie! That's a lovely message.
We should have walked closer to the minster, but, after being out for quite a while, our winter woollies weren't quite keeping that icy cold at bay.
The walk down right next to the estuary was freezing cold...bit more sheltered on the way back, walking through the little streets. 😊

Thank you, Hywel! That's very kind of you.
It was quite refreshing I must say. Bit of redness to the nose and cheeks.
Must say, I did have a good night's sleep ☺

glad you had sun Kate as we only got blue skies after 1pm but my gosh wasn't it cold. Went for a walk with daughter and her dog after lunch and it was bitterly cold.
Raining today, need the lights on to read and it is 10.00.

Lovely photo’s especially as not many people about to gatecrashnyour photo’s! I’ve just been for a 8km walk in the fog so couldn‘t really enjoy the lovely countryside but managed to spot a few sheep who seemed to be floating in the air!! Very magical. Was lovely to get out after being cooped up yesterday as it rained all day on Christmas day. Realise that I’m very lucky to live in the countryside and enjoy it’s beauty whilst going for a which helps me with my mental health and also keeping my expanding waistline in check! Ha, ha!!

Wet and dark here Kate! Can't remember when I saw the sun!
I like the walkway and bet it looks lovely when lit up!
I liked the picture of the Minster too!
I also like the picture of yourself! You look lovely and cosy !
It's nice to see our fellow members!
Enjoy the rest of your Christmas! xx

Lovely photos of you and your surroundings. It does look cold but very exhilarating too!
We went for a walk on the beach in pouring rain but we were very determined!!!
Happy New Year!

Well, you two weren’t all that alone since you brought us along too. As Klahanie has said, thank you for sharing.

You’re right, Eileen, what a change today. Still bitter cold, but, dark and wet all the day long.

Thank you Julia, that’s kind! Yes, we did feel quite brave at the time! You’re right though, a good old walk on Christmas Day feels good, all wrapped up warm and ready to walk of the excesses - as my Dad added!☺️

Thanks Ams! Golly, you were keen too! Shame about the foggy weather though. 🙁 although….on the upside - floating sheep looking quite magical!
I must agree, walking is good for our health in all ways! Especially when we’re motivated by lovely scenery around us!

Thank you so much, Rose! Lovely message. It is quite a lovely area now around the marina and old town. Plus, the walk down along by the estuary is quite a treat - more so in the day. I spotted the Humber bridge and said we could walk up to the bridge - jokingly - it’s a 20 miles round trip! (It looks so close) 😆
The minster is lovely up close, it was called the Holy Trinity beforehand.
Hope you’re having a lovely Christmas won’t be long til the family are with you 😊x

Thank you kindly, Chris! Well done you! I bet you did feel quite pleased you’d done it despite the rain! Definitely well worth it!

Thank you, Loosestrife, I’m liking the way you put it! It’s a really nice message. Thank you for liking ‘our’ little walk yesterday evening. Best wishes x

You were very brave to go walking on a very cold winters night,Kate, but I can tell it did you good,by your big smile :o) Hope you had something warming when you got home, but good on you for braving the elements .:o)
It's been a horrid foggy Boxing day here, not conducive to walking at all,but it was cosy in the pub we went to for lunch today..:o) x

Interesting blog, thanks for sharing. Generally rain, mud and slime here - typical Christmas weather.

Thank you Kate, but unfortunately my son got covid before Christmas and even though it is 10 days since he started with it, he still tests positive, so am hoping they will be able to come over nearer the New Year!

Oh Klahanie! That made me laugh!!! No bikini shots I'm afraid, even in summer! 😁 but, thank you for the warmer forecast!!! That's definitely good news!!!

Thank Sandra, we definitely were feeling "bold" that evening!!!
Once home, it was pyjamas on in front of the log burner!!! Very cosy..
Sounds like a nice Boxing day lunch at the pub though for you! Out of the foggy cold weather and in to the warmth and cosiness - lovely!
We went out for lunch with friends on Boxing day, it was quiet as lots of cancellations. We weren't out too long, just to have some nice food and wine..and catching up! 🤗x

Thanks Ange, hope you had a great Christmas weekend, despite the typical "driech" weather! 😊

Thank you, Paul, that's very kind of you.
It is a lovely walk down from ours via the river to old town and the marina/Fruit Market. It was very cold though. I think we have rain tomorrow here, I'm not sure.
Think you can see in my face how bitterly cold it was this evening!!!
Enjoy the rest of the Christmas holidays too!
Best wishes x
