I popped in close to lunchtime. It was a very pleasant morning indeed.
I picked up a few things for the rockery: 2 Saxifrage Touran Pink, 2 Saxifrage Paniculata Lutea, an Aster alpinus Happy End, and an Armeria Pink.
I also bought OH a few alliums, which had lovely green shoots, his favourite.
I picked up 2 variegated carex ornamental grasses to replace the ones in the trough under the front window.
I’ve popped them under cover for now, as by the afternoon, yesterday – well, it was like a different season altogether. Dull, drizzly and cold.
I’ll post them in a couple of days.
They’re resurfacing the carpark at the restaurant and GC entrance, so you had to park at the other side, behind the brewery and small artisan shops.
The shops and brewery had to wait until another day πŸ€—

it is a lovely gc and I was there last week, though I resisted buying.

Thanks kindly, Klahanie. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Its a very small GC, opened only a year or more.
The area is The Old Tileworks, right in the edge of the estuary.
The restaurant is lovely, even if you're just stopping for a coffee and very large slice of cake! There's quite a few little gems around here including the artisanshops, the brewery you can sample the produce, the Potting Shed etc..plus there's many wildlife walks and very large ponds dotted around off the estuary too.

Thank you, Sheila 😊. I was lucky to have popped before the afternoon, as on my way back, the weather had turned.
I'm pleased you like my purchases!

You're right, Eileen, it does make for a nice morning or afternoon out..spot of lunch or a mooch.
Yes, very tempting. I'd popped to pick up a fairly decent sized pine..OH spotted them late summer last year. I took the chance they may have still been there, as there had been several. Only one left. I had to take a pic with my foot next to it just to show him how 'small' it was. So, that was a no thanks, but, he requested some alliums. Of course, I got carried away!!!! πŸ€—

Aw thanks, Julia. It's such a lovely little place. The gift shop is also a very pretty, albeit fairly expensive, little gem. It has such lovely surroundings, they use the old terracotta tiles, crushed, on the paths etc. The colour is vibrant.

What a lovely place to visit and how inviting it looked on such a beautiful day. You bought some very pretty plants - I am very fond of saxifrages and bought two earlier in the week plus an alpine pulsitilla which are now together in a pot. Shame the sunny skies seemed to be a 'one off' but never mind more blue skies will return one day!!

Kate, I'm interested to know what is in photo four please! Are they woven Willows perhaps?

16 Mar, 2023

I was going to ask you that too Kate!
I didn't know there was a garden centre near the bridge and it looks really interesing.
I love the display and then I saw the sign of home made chocolate! Wouldn't have been able to resist that!
I also love the view in the last picture.
Thanks for sharing this with us!

It’s so nice that your OH shares the choices and knows what plants he likes. I’d like mine to do the same, but he says β€œNo, it’s YOUR garden!” I’ll have to get subtle … πŸ™‚

Those little shops, they look as if they were once garages or something. It's a good idea, I think there should be more like that, the big stores they've got today are horrible.

the building was either a rope works or a brick works. There were both on the foreshore but I cant remember which one this was.
Sure that Kate will know.

lovely cheery blog Kate . looks a very inviting place . That sunshine too .

Thanks Julia, I guess it a good use of old pot/tiles or damaged ones.

Thanks Chris, I saw your purchases on here, I've an alpine pulsatilla. It was doing OK, then the frost hit it suddenly. I think it's peeping through again 🀞
You're right, the weather is so up and down...blue skies one minute then grey and dull the next.

Shirley, I'm not sure! Sorry, I should have been looking closely. You could be right though. I'll try and find out, it has me wondering now.

18 Mar, 2023

Aw thank you, Rose. Yes, it's fairly new to The Old Tileworks. It has expanded a little. I'm keen to go back and try out the brewery and have a look at the artisan shops too!

Sheila, my OH doesn't get too involved with the planting side, more the construction! 😊
But, he does like alliums, pines, sedum and British natives.
Sometimes, I have to say, I'm the "gardener", you're the "construction expert"! πŸ˜„
Although, I end up his "apprentice" often!

Thanks Eileen, Tileworks on the foreshore. They're really doing a bit of renovation outside at the minute. Should look even better come summer β˜€οΈ

Thanks Paul, I'm quite impressed by how it's really been enhanced recently. The whole site, even the wildlife ponds and walks are lovely.
Weather changed by the afternoon 😌

Beautiful place, you certainly had a nice time there.

I can't pass even in front of the small nursering place in the grocery store, without find some plant to buy. Hubby said he will ask the manager to change it for the other side. :)

Aw, thank you, Aleyna! I'm so pleased you like the blog!
I'm with you! I spot a place selling plants and I'm like a bee on nectar!!!!
You did make me smile :-))

Kate, guess what I saw for sale at a GC this morning? Some of the woven Willow in pots ... they must be the latest fad! I will put a photo on for you in a while.

24 Mar, 2023

Ooh, look forward to seeing your pics, Shirley! You’re probably right then, must be this years latest trend for the garden!

I do love that area, we visit a lot, unfortunately it always seems to be of an evening on the way home from somewhere so naturally everywhere is closed, shame as that looks a nice GC.. I too like the Woven Willows, never seen them before..Lovely photo's Kate ...
