Garden center event 2023

Our closest garden center had an annual pre- Christmas event. I think they put it on early as the weather will get colder and rainier from now on.
It is a joint venture of garden center, few crafts people and bakers every year
I had my camera with me and snapped few pictures
Although it had a Christmas theme the mood was not overly Christmasy. These seemed to be only lights in the place.
There were some winter greens and hanging baskets arrangements. The cut evergreen trees and branches which I thought will be dead before Santa visits
Detail
Lots of hellebore
Potted, ready to use winter arrangements created by GC staff
Small plants for our own planter creation
Flowering winter plants.
They had a good amount of camellia sasanqua but I did not make a picture, The plant in the picture is Arbutus unedo ‘Compacta’
Inside plant section was big, cactus and some indoor exotica, few orchids and amaryllis
Large poinsettias
I am surprised that I did not bring this lovely streptocarpus home
People craft section was outside
Outdoor furniture
Willow art
Lots of various Christmas themed artifacts
Hummingbird feeders were expensive
It was a pleasant couple of hours out and we did not come home empty handed.
OH picked a nice pot and I picked up a nice cactus for it
We also got a free gift…..a little poinsettia.
There was a coffee and food truck and it seemed that people around it had a good time.
I am happy to see that these little events still exist

Sounds like it was a nice visit anyway. I like your pot very much. I saw some lovely ones today when we were out visiting a large GC. Too much choice, but then I have too many pot covers anyway!

It's interesting to see your garden centre decorations on Vancouver island Klahanie. I agree the pot and Christmas cactus are lovely together. I really liked seeing the hummingbird feeders. Awaiting your winter pics of them with baited breath..:))

Thanks for sharing your visit, Klahanie. I spotted that gorgeous streptocarpus immediately! What a colour too. How on earth did you manage to not purchase it!
They do seem to have a lot of pretty, colourful collections and lots of evergreen, too. Pity there wasn't as much in the way of Christmas displays..maybe December? They may add to what's there already?
Your free poinsettia is a pretty one.

Thank you for sharing your walk round the garden centre Klahanie.
It was a shame there weren't many Christmas decorations, but I imagine it made up for it with the plants.
And, of course you couldn't leave without buying a plant!
The pot is lovely!
