Spending Spree

I`ve had a really good day where my garden is concerned. Yesterday I was talking to hubby and he asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I laughed and said all I really need is a new pair of secateurs…and then it hit me. A pair of Felco no2`s would suit me nicely..how about it? He agreed so I bought them today from work, discounted of course. I can`t wait to use them though I`m not allowed to have them until after the 25th Dec.

I always spent some time browsing the reduced nursery stock section. I picked up a Verbena Bonariensis which I shall plant tomorrow afternoon after work. I didn`t have time this afternoon as I stayed on at work and didn`t get home until after 3pm. I also bought some jute sacks for making leaf mould. The horse chestnut outside my house is shedding its leaves across my drive and they will do nicely. There`s a lot to be said for working in a garden centre, especially at this time of year, there are great reductuions to be had…up to 75% which isn`t at all bad. We even have David Austin roses at 75% and they are flying out the door as you would imagine. Of course there are still some more plants that I`ll be purchasing before the end of the week…no wonder I never have any money…lol!

Sandra :o)

Talking of David Austin roses ....
I went looking for the shrub rose 'Fimbriata' recently and the garden centre i went to told me it was too unusual for normal stock, would you agree ?

You can't beat Felco secateurs, they're great. I've had mine for years and only needed a replacement spring.

I don't regret buying mine - they're great! All the cheapo ones turn out to be pretty useless in double-quick time, don't they!

Hmmm..... discounted plants! How good is that?
