Will it ever stop?

When will this rain stop I wonder? If it carries on the way its going I`m going to build an ark! This afternoon I went into the greenhouse for a couple of hours and planted some seeds. Theres not much else I can do outside, even in between showers I only managed to feed the hellebores and the roses. I have no idea what the neighbours must have thought of me as I poured tomato food on the hungry hellebores. It doesn`t look good if it seems like you`re watering an already sodden garden…lol!

However I soldiered on and sowed tomatoes Sungold, Money Maker, Gardener`s Delight and Black Cherry. I sowed Dill, for putting in containers, Society Garlic in case mine dies and Garlic Chives for the lovely flowers that are both beautifully scented and good to eat.The flowers I sowed so far are: Alyssum `Snow Carpet`, Californian Poppies, Verbena (mixed), Poor Man`s Orchid and Asters (mixed). I think that`s enough to be going on with, Oh yes, I also planted a couple of Olive seeds that I took straight from the tree this afternoon. The tree is in the greenhouse so they were nice and dry. Whether they come up or not is another thing, it was just an experiment. When I`d finished and cleared away the rain was absolutely pouring down so I had to make a dash for the house. By the time I`d made three trips there and back I was a bit on the damp side, well worth it though I have to say.

I believe the new series of Gardener`s World starts next friday. I do hope some changes have been made because I felt the last series was more show than substance. What do you think?

Hope you`re leaving space on your ark for passengers Sandra.
Seriously tho. there seems to be no end to it and I worry for the people who live in the flood prone areas... I didn`t even make it down to my greenhouse so good on you.. I`m going to give GW a chance but they have to improve on last year or I`ll give them the order of the boot toots sweet........

Web had a mixed day today - lots of heavy showers, with a little ray of sunshine between. The forecast is awful though. May I come and join you on the ark, please?

I do feel so sorry for people who are at risk of flooding. :-(((

the rain was a bb said horrendous and it turned to sleet by teatime. the lady who died lives in Beverly which is only 3 miles from me. It is so sad. we had a severe frost overnight and then a fine blue sky until about 3pm then rain.

Not a bad day here, either apart from showers, but I think tomorrow is going to be awful. I hope the rest of you have some better weather.

I too have been in my greenhouse, potting up begonia plugs, lavender plugs and delphinium seeds. The greenhouse needs a good tidy up really as soon as I get a nice day.

I am hoping to grow some pelargoniums from last year's plants ala Vernons Nurseries

Sorry to hear about the rain and floods in your parts of the world guys. Don't know which way it's travelling, but we had a mini-hurricane here yesterday evening which was strong enough to move two large soft chairs across our balcony and move a loaded and deliberately weighted-down small plastic greenhouse across the patio! I lost a plastic greenhouse last year when it blew over the wall into the sheep enclosure, but now - even weighted doiwn with large rocks, the wind managed to move it. Hope it's not headed towards Britain as it sounds like you've all had quite enough to deal with lately, weatherwise.

We comment on the sun, the rain, the hail, the fog, the snow, the wind, the frost, the sun, the drought, (have I forgotten to mention anything)? Are we ever happy with the weather that nature provides us with? Each season brings its own rewards ........ and for that I am thankful. :-))
