A Lovely Day

What a difference a warm and sunny day makes. Working in a garden centre is the best place to be on a day like today. Lots of happy gardeners milling around, buying their plants as if Spring has already sprung. I didn`t have a single customer that didn`t have a smile or a cheery word today. Wonderful, I wish every day could be like that.
Of course it would have to be the day I had an appointment in town and couldn`t do any gardening, apart from giving my ericaceous plants a feed of sulphate of iron. However I made up for it by treating myself to some more Summer bulbs that I will plant tomorrow, along with the baby geraniums I will BUY tomorrow. I also bought some propagator lids from Wilkinsons that only cost 78p each. Mind you, it took me forever to prise them apart, I was getting some really funny looks in the shop while I struggled with them…lol! The forecast is good so I will definitely be outside when I get home from work.
My paraffin heater isn`t working properly and Jim is going to have a look at it tomorrow. It went out on Saturday even though it still had loads of fuel left. I checked the wick was ok and re-lit and thought no more about it. A little while later I went back inside and the greenhouse was full of smoke and the heater was completely black. I stifled the flame with a bell cloche and then lifted it out wearing oven gloves, took the cover and the wick indoors and gave them both a thorough clean. Re-lit it AGAIN and the same thing happened and I have no idea at all why it should be. Jim is going to check it out tomorrow and see whats going on. Consequently I have trays of plants on window ledges and an almost empty greenhouse…….grrrr! :o(

we had a great day here aswell. i even had to leave the tunel at lunch time just tooo hot...happy days..;-)

You have echoed exactly what we thought . . .went to 2 garden centres .. .less said about one of them the better . . .everyone was happier today . . .proof that sunshine spreads happiness !

glad to hear you got some bulbs labd,not a bad day here today out in garden all afternoon,sorry to hear about your heater there is always something isnt there i hope you can fix it,..:o)

Wow! We had 10 degrees - great to have the sun, wasn't it. I'm not surprised everyone was smiling. :-))) Everyone expcept poor Sarah with her black heater, that is. :-((

I remember those parafin heaters. I was always heving trouble with mine. I hope Jim can sort it out for you.

yes paraffin heaters are problematical I hope you get it sorted out
I much prefer my heated pad.
Nice day here too for St Davids Day, but I didnt see much of it - in the office on Mondays :((. Roll on retirement, unless I go to work in a Garden Centre!!

glad you had a good day at work sandra watching people enjoy the sun and buying plants, cant think why your heater is acting up, maybe a block somewhere, hope hubby gets it fixed for you, i need to set some seeds but no room with all my plants in the house, so will wait to do them once the plants can go outside and my grow house is empty ;o))
