Colour in my Garden and a New Pal to Share our Home..

Spring has sprung a little bit, why is it that one plants the bulbs together to get a lovely show of colour and they foil our efforts by opening in dribs and drabs, what I have noticed is that with all the rain we are having they are lasting longer…….
The birds are leaving my crocus alone this year but were eating the red polyanthus, as soon as they opened they were becoming a tasty treat and I was only seeing the inner part, now for some unknown reason they have stopped and I am at last seeing some blooms on my plants, as the saying goes " there’s nowt as queer as folk" well I’m including the birds in that…
I moved my Hellebores last autumn, I had tried growing them in the raised bed at the bottom of the garden, thinking they would do well down there but although the plants thrived they never flowered, sp pleased I made that decision…
10 days ago we had a new little one arrive, her name is Harriet and she was born on xmas day…So tiny, smaller than Brynners head and even Toffee towered over her, little bundle of white fluff with floppy ears and a tail that would not stay up lol…
Its unbelievable how quickly she settled, showing no signs of being nervous from day one, in fact she does not know what fear is…
Harriet belongs to Sherryl really but as with all pets she doesn’t know that, as far as she is concerned we all belong in the same pack and Harriet is going to have everyones attention at all times….

You should have put Harriet in a separate blog, she has completely outshone those lovely plants. Looks like she's on a mission in your last photo.

Thankyou Dan, I will be looking out for an introduction to your little one soon then, we are in for a fun summer.

Oh she certainly was Siris, that was a top speed run, spend ages walking around the garden with her and she suddenly runs up the path to get indoors to use her puppy training pads, lol.. its so funny albeit frustrating, we've tried placing them outside for her but nope she holds it...

Brynner is being closely monitored Stera, he's so big and very boisterous, we are frightened he would hurt her without meaning to, I have no doubt when she's a bit bigger they will be good pals as he does miss Morgan, I think he will be calmer around her when they are able to be walked out together, Harriet has another four weeks before its safe to take her out and about..
I should have moved my Hellebores years ago Stera, where I first took notice of them was a shaded walk under a huge canopy of trees at Matlock Bath, thats why I thought my area would suit them, live and learn don't we...

Lincs, you'd have thought a shady patch would have suited them fine wouldn't you - but as you say we live and learn...

Hello, Harriet. You remind me of my mother's dog, Nip, and if you grow up to be as good a dog as he was you will repay your owners a thousand fold.
What does the cat think of her?

Your plants look to be doing really well - I especially like your primroses and Hellebores - the birds seem to have left our primroses alone this year - it is the weevil grub that destroys our plants especially in the pots - if I am not careful - best wishes to Harriet - Jane

Lincs the garden is looking lovely. Glad you've got the hellebores to flower, they're lovely - your plants obviously didn't read the book did they lol.
Harriet is a sweetie, although do I see a mischievous glint in those eyes? Hehe to the puppy training pads, a colleague of mine had the same problem with her pup. If I can remembere tomorrow I'll ask how she solved it

Lincs your garden is lovely. Hellebores are all beautiful and I do like the primulas. I especially like Harriet. I had a chuckle at the training pads. What will they come up with next?

Your spring flowers are so pretty, I especially like the hellibores they are doing so well since their move.
Harriet looks like she will be a big character & full of mischief, lol.
We used the training pads too, after about 3 months or so we put them away & took her outside when she looked as tho she needed to go. At night she slept in her crate.

Good to see all the spring flowers doing nicely and brightening the garden, and dear little Harriot would put a smile on anyones face. Like you I had hellibores in what I call the shady bed which had plenty of foliage but no flowers so I moved them to the middle bed which receives much more sunlight and they are now flowering their little socks off.
