All My Own Fault (anyone want any plants) lol....

Well..you are a one woman tour-de-force! You will be so popular with everyone when you start giving away your excess tomatoes and bedding plants! I have a funny story about cucumbers. I set a pack of six seeds..they all germinated, but four died when I transplanted them...probably too soon. The other two were growing well until a young sparrow sneaked in and spent the night in my greenhouse. During his stay he helped himself to a buffet of cucumber seedlings and also nibbled every one of my young zinnia plantlets! Luckily I had a second packet of cucumber seed! He wasn’t keen on leaving the B&B though. Took me a good few minutes to get him out!

Oh Karen I'm sorry but that really made me laugh, I could picture you trying to coax the little sparrow out, that has only ever happened once to me and I know how panicked the bird was, I tried just leaving my door open but the little baggar wouldn't come anywhere near it, I had to help...
I'm at a complete standstill now, we desperately needed this rain but three days nonstop in a row is a bit much, never satisfied are we, I think Mother Nature needs a refresher course, I asked very politely for night time only but she's not listening, gotta keep a sense of humour Karen haven't we....

You have a well stocked garden Linclass I dk where you will find space for all those seedlings. I do sympathise with the need for pots to pot things in to. I was lucky today when a new neighbour in one of the recently built houses across the road dropped off a pile of pots. We have been saying hello since the lockdown when she was taking her grandchildren out for their daily exercise. I mentioned I had not been able to take the spare seedlings to a show and she offered to buy some. She wanted small rockery type plants. I refused payment because I am going to struggle to keep them all alive. I am just pleased to reduce my workload. In return she offered plant pots from the many plants they have been planting in their new gardens. It is a win win situation for both of us. Good luck in keeping all those plants alive. I hope your hose has a sprinkler delivery nozzle or you will have no time to do anything else.

Good heavens Sue ! That is a lot of plants ! How about putting them on your front on a table with a box for contributions ! Hahaa!
I am the opposite..I usually sow a lot of seeds and only a few come up, so have been sending for plugs this year.

Oh Lincs you and me both. I have so many flowering plants waiting to be sold at my plant talks. And my cucumbers didn't germinate either. I wonder if the summer affected how they set seed. I didn't have a bird problem eating seeds just a wood mouse and a vole.

I must say your garden looks lovely and I am sure your beans will be nice and snug in the cubby.

My neighbours also pass their empty plants pots across to me so that is really valuable as pots are not cheap.

I wish the UK was more like Camelot where it only rains after sundown too. We had rain for a few hrs yesterday and a few light showers late this afternoon but we could do with more as the soil is only damp for about 3".

Wow Sue, you are going to busy with that lot! Lets hope that the lockdown will end while the plants are still a suitable size!

I can't believe the huge success you have had with your seeds! You have done well to find a home for them all! Must put our sweet peas out soon too after seeing yours nicely lined up! Lovely to have a rose in flower already!

Wow, my tomatoes are nowhere near as big as yours Lincs although I've got quite a few cucumber Marketmore going on nicely. These were planted after the Diva cues wilted and died in March. You're so right about if you only had a few seeds they wouldn't grow, it's happened to me a few times

Tel me, when you say you have cut the Hellebores back to make space, by how much do you cut them? So much conflicting advice on-line that I don't know if I should cut back just the old leaves, or all of them!

Your garden looks lovely and your tomato green house looks very organised . You could always put a honesty table out side with some plants to sell help you towards your next year seeds . Love your rose last photo.

I too did have a giggle picturing Karen trying to get the sparrow out her green house it will now be known as the food bank for birds.

Well Sue..you really have gone overboard with your seed sowing this year! Lol.You are going to have a fabulous display though.I think the idea,of having some up for sale outside your house,or for kind donations,would be a great idea... Although ,once you get planting out,you will probably find a gap for most of them ,as we all seem to do ! lol..Your garden is looking lovely as usual,and we have finally had a decent amount of much needed rain this past two days too,although mainly during the night,so your request to Mother Nature seems to have been re-routed here before coming to you ..:o) x

Thankyou all for your lovely comments, I 've been thinking about all the plants and I've decided that its all classed as forward planning on my part, LOL, I absolutely love visiting gardens, especially at the grand old houses, I love the big borders with swathes of planting, as with so many outings this year, we, like everybody else have had to put this years plans on hold, Sooooo !!! I'm going to create my own here....Wish me luck folks, it'll either look a mess or work for me...

Shirley I cut all my Hellebores right down to the ground, I used to only cut the huge leaves away and the blackened ones but I found out they flower better since I've cut all away...

Maybe you will be lucky enough to be in one of the areas who are opening their collection points because fly tipping is on the increase.

You have been so very busy, Lincslass! Well done, even though you are feeling overwhelmed by it all. All you seedlings look so healthy - your hard work and definitely paid off. I’ve bought and planted some different seeds over recent weeks, and my hellebore seedlings are doing well too. I’ve been learning different ways to garden during this lockdown..when I’m not at work, I’m enjoying a newfound way of gardening. Ps. Thanks for the tip about the hellebore care too.

It will work and maybe you can open to the public next year. Thanks for the hellebore tip. I usually just cut off the big leaves but I will do it your way this year.
