To The Woods, To The Woods !

Some of you might know that i live on a hillside in the middle of a town where there are 2 parks near me and some woods, i’m often referring to the woods but i’ve never shown a picture of what i can see from my home.
So, with a fully charged camera battery (!) and dust on the lens, this is what i see ….
These large woods are across the road from my home.

The views from the front of the house are very different, it looks down over part of the town and across to a large range of hills, the Mendips. Today’s a sunny day and there’s haze on the hills but if you look carefully you can just about make them out.

The side view – which isn’t photographed because i’d need to stand on the roof – would show Wales and the Welsh hills.
We are in a nicely sheltered little ‘belt’ that seems to miss the extremes of the cold weather and in the summer we get the best of the sun and warmth too
:-)))

This is immediately infront of my front garden, it’s a little path that leads to my neighbours houses. To the right of the picture is an area of lawn, large shrubs and small trees and my cats love it, they can wander around out there quite safely and i call it ‘the jungle’ !
They disappear into the shrubs and listen to the rustling and watch the birds higher up above them, keeps them amused for ages !!!

Lovely part of the world it must be really nice at this time of year to see those trees turning colour and turning around the long view to the Mendips.

It looks very nice Louise1 and it must be very hilly. The woods seem to be high up, whilst the town is lower down. Lovely views though and as Pipsqueak says seeing the seasons change must be lovely.
In your case the views don't reveal your exact whereabouts, but in many cases they would, which may not be a good idea. I must be getting paranoid - although with all the things going on through computers we do need to be cautious.

Thanks everyone!

Yes, it's very hilly indeed Mad, you have to be super fit to live around here !!!!
Or have a car !!!!!!!

That puts a stop to me visiting Somerset then, I can't even climb a few stairs. I could do with a Popemobile. It does look lovely with such far-reaching views..

Lovely to see the views round your home Louise....You know I envy you living where you do...where lots of my "roots" are. I can imagine the jungle being of immense attraction to your "girls"!!
There's not many of us lucky enough to have "space" round us.....Hmm...I might do a little "film too".......:))

Trying to work out where you are!!!! It is a lovely day here too and I know I'm not that far away - sunshine really warm. Am off to the allotment now to plant my autumn shallots...

Thanks Alice :-))

Those woods/trees will have lost their leaves in a few weeks but the lead-up to it gives the most beautiful display of colour changes, it's usually November when they're all naked up there.

Yes, Millie and Maddie just love spending time in the jungle, they can go in and look out at everyone, completely hidden and disguised !!!!

Lovely views Louise, bet the Trees will look even better as Autumn really kicks in. Nice to have a lovely safe place fo Milly and Maddie to explore!

8 Oct, 2009

Lucky you. I live in a valley on a main road, so my view isn't up to much!

8 Oct, 2009

Lovely to watch the trees changing colour. You'd need your binoculars to see our hills from there - even then, I think the Mendips might be in the way!!

Beautiful views Louise :-))

You live in a nice place Louise. The trees look lovely this time of year. It's great you can see them from your house. It's good your cats have somewhere they enjoy playing safely.
Maybe you could stand on your roof one day and I'll wave to you across the chanel... lol

Thanks Sue :-)

Hywel, with our binoculars we could probably see each other waving !!!!

Great views and a lovely blog Louise. We only have views of the neighbours windows but we do have Sherwood Forest at the end of the village which has some lovely walks. But not today Brrrrrrrr.

I have even taken to waring a fleece outdoors now! ! !

9 Oct, 2009

Same here Ian.
Infact, if you picture the Michelin Man in your mind ..... that's me.
I go up 2 dress sizes in winter because of the extra layers i wear in a vain attempt to keep warm, not an attractive sight but there .....

9 Oct, 2009

Ahhh, you see I only have a t' shirt on with a fleece on when I go out. It was 5 deg. when I took Holly to school this morning in my t' shirt. :~))
Carol is like you, she wears so many layers I have taken to likening her to a spanish onion!

9 Oct, 2009

Talking about Holly, It's school run time. Another 20 minutes of moaning and whining parents outside the gates before they let us in :~(((

9 Oct, 2009

What a lovely place to live with lovely views.

9 Oct, 2009

Beautiful colours in the trees there Louise, and great for the cats to have a hideaway too - their own private jungle as you say.
Sorry Ian still wearing strappy tops here, probably won't need a fleece till February (usually our coldest month) Autumn is beautiful wherever you live :-)

Lovely views all round Louise....

12 Oct, 2009

Thanks everyone :-)
It's such a pretty area and quiet too and that it makes it perfect for me because i hate noise - be it cars or lots of people.

13 Oct, 2009

lovely views louise thanx for sharing :o))

Looks lovely with the autumn colours surrounding you and then you have wonderful views of the sea what a lovely combination

14 Oct, 2009

I think views are more important than the house as most of the time you're in the house. Louise the trees look like broad leaf possibly oak so they'll be colourful 'till late on. Do you walk in the woods, if so do you walk up or go in the car? Well you did say you need to be fit to live there.

14 Oct, 2009

I agree Heron as I have always said I would rather live in a house and looking out on country side and cottages, than live in one. Bit like if some one said I was ugly I would say thats your problem, they normally say not its yours, I then say no its your problem as you have to look at me I dont he he ha ha

14 Oct, 2009

That really made me laugh Morgana.

14 Oct, 2009

I am happy I ve made some one laugh for the day thank you Heron.

14 Oct, 2009

Heron, i do walk in the woods and yes, you have to be quite fit to live here if you enjoy being outside.

Most people find the walk from the hillside down into the town/shops far, far too steep to walk down and need transport, if you were staying up here on the hill then it would be okay.
