I thought i’d take some pictures of what’s flowering out there today – so here are just a few splashes of colour, that assure me that spring’s coming :-))
Anemone
Anemone
Bellis
Crocus
Bellis
Hellebore, Harvington Hybrid, double pink.
Daphne odora ‘Aureomarginata’. The flowers smell divine :-)))
Euphorbia ‘Baby Charm’ in flower.
Dodonaea viscosa purpurea. This has only been in the ground since the autumn and i’m chuffed to bits that it’s survived its first winter !

I just cant believe the colours you have already in your garden, my spring flowers are no where near at this stage and yet we live in Dorset, where we have been lucky with the very cold weather or snow. Not a great amount of either just rain rain and rain again. Your pictures are really nice anfd I feel just a tiny bit jealous.,
At least today it's been sunny all day, and I had a great time outdoors for the first time this year.

Thanks Michaella :-)
This winter's seemed so long and cold that these are singing out in my front garden today - the sunshine helps make them look better too, doesn't it ? !
I can't stop looking at them !!!

You must have a very sheltered spot for the dodonaea to survive Louise. Good to see spring starting at last

Thanks girls :-)
Andrew, i'm staggered by it !!!!
I really thought it would, at best - get very damaged and at worst - die off completely, however, it's sailed through !
It really makes you wonder sometimes, when you read the labels warning of its impending doom and delicate nature.
This is planted in my back garden, which is a very different space to the warm, sunny, sheltered front.
This garden's shaded a lot in winter, although the plants position is in the south facing, sunniest spot - and in the shelter of a fence .... it's in my bronze border.

After the winter we've had it's so uplifting to see some bold garden colour! Everyone is just waiting for the spring and summer with such keenness, I think we'll all really appreciate it much more given the awfully cold and depressing winter we've had, hope to see more colour Louise!

Oh so lovely!!!! - Garden here is still frozen solid and even the snowdrops are just showing green tips... the snow's still on the hills and even around the edges of the walls in the garden! Brrr... but lovely to look at your pictures - maybe another 4 weeks and hopefully we'll be at the same stage.

OH! the anemone is just gorgeous. I have 5 of just this colour and shape in a green jug in my livingroom! Louise? have you thought of just covering the plants with leaves and a bit of soil in the fall? it might make a difference that more will survive for you. I do that with some of my plants in the garden and they do make it usually. I have been lazy in the last couple of years. so many have not survived. But I did cover a whole lot in my garden last fall so am curious what will come up.
My crocus always survive and I have little tiny bulbs, with tiny white flowers, they are just amazing as they always come up and also live a long time. I don't know what they are, as they once were given to me, by somebody, who bought a whole garden in bulbs and didn't want these in hers. They look like little stars. I haven't bothered to search for their name either. I just gave them a spot in my garden and said: welcome and do your best.
