It was the Village Show here yesterday and in reckless moment last week I offered to enter 2 categories in the flower arranging section, An arrangement using sunset colours, An arrangement in a kitchen utensil, Then a named single Rose, as my Great Expectations Rose has been lovely I thought that was the one to enter, come the day one tight bud was all that I had out! – I entered it any way.

The displays had to be in the marquee ready for judging at 10 am, the show opened in the afternoon with a parade led by the Village Queen, there were lots of entries in the produce and flower section, painting, photography and handicrafts too. Lots going on besides Childrens races, Dog show, raffles, stalls and a superb refreshment marquee with delicious home made cakes!

One of the Flower arranging sections

My sunset colours arrangement won first prize – much to my surprise!

A pestle and mortar was my choice of kitchen utensil for this arrangement – it came second – another surprise!

Looking down the other side more flower entries Roses, plants, wild flower arrangements and more plants.

In the single rose section there were just three entries and my Great Expectations came third!! Well I love it anyway and today it is fully out!

Just sharing my first attempts at entering the village show with you!
