Spring at Chirk Castle

Today I enjoyed a lovely tour of this National Trust run property still lived in by the Myddleton family (not that one!) many trees have been planted to restore the grounds to the 1760 designed landscape of William Emes with a view to returning deer to grace the grounds.
Lord Howard de Walden leased part of the castle in the 1930’s and many famous guests visited him – George Bernard Shaw, Augustus John, Dylan Thomas to name but a few,
The Medieval Dungeons and Adam Tower are a macarbe reminder of the castles early history
I think you’ll agree it is an imposing Castle built in 1310 with 17th and 18th Century additions – this later addition’s interior was designed by Pugin.
The attractive thatched Summerhouse covered in creepers and vines in the summer
Beautiful Blossom and Daffodills
Ribes, Heather and Pale Cream Daffodils
Bright Lime Green Euphorbia
An interesting and beautiful place to visit any time of the year, on the Welsh/Shropshire border.
