You are obviously very talented, a nice way to relax when not gardening. When I visited the RHS show at Tatton Park last Sunday, I saw a pencil drawing of a bird that completely knocked me out. The prints were brilliant but the original print......I've never seen anything like it. A snip at £2500.

love it NP....well done you....good luck in the competition...

Quality was the reaction from my husband on the portrait ... I think it's wonderful Leigh ... so sorry the portrait section has been dropped ... you must have been on to a winner with it ! The Jag is fabulous ... so much detail captured perfectly.

The portrait of the old man is wonderful, although when I saw it as your avatar I thought it a bit scary at first. You are very talented and I only wish I could be as artistic.

Brilliant Np, as usual. Love the old man. Pity about the portrait section, were they afraid you'd win it again, and that's why they dropped that section ? Lol. You would have won it outright! Love the others too, of course. The eyes, the eyes. You capture the eyes brilliantly, and make them look so real. Fantastic Np. Good Luck, my fingers are crossed, not that they need to be. :o)))

What lovely artwork. Your old man is fab. Take a look at a website if you like, a friend of mine called John Parson, based in NZ in the old days and now in Canada, he painted a series of masks and an old man, your work is fairly similar as in the portraits.
I love making art too, just finished a heron scarer mosaic which I am pleased with although the grout is still wet. Can't wait to polish it up!!

Your art work is superb Np, and your old man amazing, my fave is the monkey, I love him, you have such a wonderful talent, sorry about the comp. you would have one hands down!!!!!
28 Jul, 2010
As you know Leigh, I love your work (all of it) and if you don't get near to a prize with those "quickie" efforts then the judging must have been done by Braille.
Good luck with them and I hope you win!
28 Jul, 2010
wow i hope you win. you are so talented great work, my fav. is the Orangatan with baby.good luck.
28 Jul, 2010

PS. Hope yer hat still fits you LOL
28 Jul, 2010
somehow you need to have a "proper" exhibition wish I knew someone.....
28 Jul, 2010
Here here Pam. I think he needs an exhibition of his own. Np. You should try and hire somewhere like a local hall or something thats not going to cost the earth, and advertise it on the net with one or two pics to get them drooling for more. Like an appetizer. Or what's that starter? oh yes, "Horse derves" I meant "hors d'oeuvre" as my dictionary just showed me, provounced, 'or derv'. Well, I was pretty close 1st time, with my horse thing. Lol. :o)))

Such talent! You have a wonderful gift which you are sharing with others and yes I am enjoying looking at all your lovely pictures. I am truly envious as I can only draw the curtains. You should win as your work is truly fantastic! All the best for the competition.
28 Jul, 2010
our local museum often has display by local artists and some of the art groups or societies--- even our libraries, maybe in your area something similar happens?
28 Jul, 2010
I just love the old man although the leopard comes a close second. Can't understand why there is no portrait section in the competition.
You definitely do need an exhibition, but I wondered whether as a start, it might be possible to offer some of your work to a local restaurant (perhaps one that is just opening and wondering what to put on the walls) on a commission basis. Obviously you and they would need to discuss carefully what subjects would be suitable for the surroundings, but I am sure that you would succeed with anything.
You could perhaps let them have 15% of the sale price, but they might do it for nothing in return for the privilege of free decoration of such quality.
xx

Your talent knows no bounds and I`m sure you will be recognised, perhaps by entering competitions. I think Felinfan`s idea is a good one to considerGood luck for the competition and for the future.
28 Jul, 2010
Good idea Felinfan! I love them all, but i think my favourite has to be the jag. It must be so annoying not being able to enter the mexican man as i think it would have been hard to beat. Nevermind Leigh, you can enter it next year. :~)))xx
28 Jul, 2010
even my hairdresser in the village has original art for sale---- go for it Np
28 Jul, 2010
Wow! Fast work, Np! The frame looks great to me, too.
28 Jul, 2010
That's tough Leigh , not being able to enter your Old Man , I really like that , I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you , you will let us know how you get on won't you ..? we will have to have a get together soon luv x

Love them all....old man is my fave. Al l the best in the comp.
29 Jul, 2010
thanx again everyone for your support everyone . the only new shops we get are charity shops lol .
that is a good idea felinfan . ive tried something similer but it didnt realy help . i think look further afield realy . the real trouble with an exserbition is that i dont actualy own many pictures that ive drawn . they all have new homes lol .
if i get enough together i will have an excerbition . i have had a half excerbition in the past but even that is like 15 pictures .
anyway again thanx for your input . take care bye for now .
29 Jul, 2010
I bet if you combined your paintings along with your sculptures and everything else (Including your tatt work) you'd have enough to fill the Albert museum! Lol
29 Jul, 2010
I agree Ian. The comment Felinfan made makes sense, and thinking about it, Hubby visits the hospital regularly for his appointments and we are always looking at the pics on the corrider walls. They are drawn by local artists. They have the artists name and a price tag, on them. So you could try somewhere like that. You'd be surprised how many people stop and look at them. :o)))
29 Jul, 2010
it sounds like something i will do but our hospital pictures are all donations .ill look into it as it goes .
as for gardeners world christina they didnt even have the decensy to right back but its nothing new .
as it goes ian i must of done a good 300 drawings about so you could be right lol .

Saw a prog last night about an artist who owns a hotel in Brighton and he lets people hang their pictures around the place,(it was on hotel inspector) it was called 'artists residence' maybe get in touch with him, I have just googled it and it says he has a gallery and exhibition space !
30 Jul, 2010
that sounds most interesting thanx grandmage xx .
30 Jul, 2010
you are most welcome !

30 Jul, 2010

30 Jul, 2010
young man im nearly 50 lol but thanx anyway lol .
30 Jul, 2010
i had a look for that artist hotel grandemage but i couldnt seam to see how to hang some art . i get the impression you just draw on the walls or something though i would if i could lol .
30 Jul, 2010
The drawing on the walls were only in the bedrooms which artists were invited to decorate, peoples art are hung on walls all around the hotel and he has a gallery, think its in the dining room and he has a space for exibitions ! Why dont you ring him?
Justin @ 01273442581 maybe also try to look at the tv prog again, hotel inspector on channel 5 and you will see more clearly what this guy is about !
31 Jul, 2010
So am I!! We're still young! ;O)

Hi Np, Only just read last few comments. have been catching up with all of you. I have my fingers crossed you'll have some luck with grandmages suggestion. You deserve the break, and people would love to see your work. :o)))
3 Aug, 2010

3 Aug, 2010
My pleasure. :o)))
3 Aug, 2010
i still thank you looloo xx .

Your old man is brilliant! He's so lifelike, you can see the character in him and the emotion. He looks determined about something and I think he's had a hard life or he makes life hard for others!
Could you save him for the next portrait competition? He's too good to hide away.
I agree with the others, send some photos to galleries and get an exhibition sorted. Start with the Tate. xx
3 Aug, 2010
thanx a lot seabird lol . ill do something with him . i mite keep him lol .who knows . i realy like this piece a lot and im enjoying looking at it at the moment .

Hi Leigh,
I am asking a question on your behalf because somethig has just occurred to me. Does anybody out there know if artists can have agents the way that writers do? We have to remember that you may not be able to travel here and there to take advantage of the possibilities of exhibitions etc. but an agent would perhaps have contactsand know what is currently available. Please tell me if my ideas are intrusive and I will stop pestering, but you have so much talent that I am very keen to see it recognised. On the other hand, you may get too fatigued to want to go to any great lengths to chase the possibilities.
Now I shall shut up for the moment
Regards
x
PS. Just a quick final thought: I bet you could sell them on E Bay!
4 Aug, 2010
Felinf, I purchased a portrait of our grandson on e.bay, I submitted a photo by e.mail and this guy drew a wonderful pencil drawing, it only took a week, so anything can be done on e.bay !!!!!!!! With Np. all he has to do is put a reserve on his paintings and try, I suppose ! Good thought.
4 Aug, 2010
yes a very good thaught . id love an agent but try getting one unqualified as i am .ive been chasing the possabillity for 18 years now . not to worry great idea anyway felinfan xx .
4 Aug, 2010
Alll the very best of luck in the competition from us too Np...the old man is brilliant..those expressive and liquid eyes are terrific. Pity you cannot enter that one..but the others are great too....x
7 Aug, 2010
