We've adopted 2 girls...............

Well, what a relaxing week off I am having and my birthday yesterday was the best day as we finally adopted 2 little girls.

This is Sophie who is 1 years old:

She’s the meeker of the two although she is growing in confidence by the hour and loves a fuss but just likes sleeping a lot at the moment as she settles in.

This is Maggie who is 2 years old:

She is the real confident one of the two and wanted to leave the kitchen to explore after just a couple of hours but we are leaving them in the kitchen until later so that they have had about 24 hours out there to spread their scent. She has absolutely settled in immediately and just loves to be fussed….constantly!! She is the tonboy of the 2 and is itching to explore more of the house but one room at a time please!

They were living together in Swansea, although not direct sisters from the same litter, and their owner became very ill. They had only been at the Cats Protection for 3 days when we saw them. They are so beautiful and will no doubt be spoilt rotten by us both but that’s okay as I’m sure they will bring us a lot of joy over the years. They are house cats as well so won’t be going outside due to our location. They are already trained for house cats so all okay there.

So, there you have it…..the 2 latest additions to our little family.

Sophie & Maggie……HELLO GoYers!!

Thanks all and the girls have well and truly made this their home now. Allowed in the living room tonight as Maggie was practically eating the door to get in and now she is, happiness all round!

Lots of toys with catnip in and plenty of exploring to do.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes and HB to Lincs for tomorrow girl!

They've had us in stitches onight with their antics and whilst Maggie had a loopy half hour chasing Sophie around, Sophie did, at one point, stop and give Maggs a good whack on top of the head!!

Our house is now a home........

Hello, Girls and Welcome to GoY! :)

21 May, 2010

happy belated birthday. The cats look adorable. Its nice to come home to them, isnt it. The house never seems empty while they are around.

23 May, 2010

Once again, a big thanks for all the belated wishes and, more importantly, the girls have completely settled in and seem very content. Maggie is like having a dog as she follows you everywhere and generally likes to settle in the room you are in.

Sophie tends to hang back and wait a bit before joining you, almost like, see if big sis gets told off or hurts herself.......NO, okay, now I'll take a look!

It's a great feeling having them around and I could watch them for hours!

It's been a relaxing week with not a lot going on outside other than some potting on toms and general pottering. Back to scabby old work tomorrow and with this weather, we will be very quiet.......please LOTTO, let it be MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

The girls say HI to you all and also said to thank you for your kind comments about them:o))

...Lovely for you OB, pets make a home don't they? Nice that they came together, no problems wondering if they'll get on.

23 May, 2010

Yes PG. Although not direct sisters, they seem fine with each other. Maggie is def the boss as she is older but Sophie does seem to put her in her place from time to time with a 'bop' on the head!!

It's been great watching them these first few days and they really are right at home and as myself and Ali are very laid back, it creates a nice environment for them to be in, I think. I same the same about the grandson, TerrorJACdyl, as he is so well behaved when he is over and never wants to go home. He was made up with the cats as well and never stopped talking about them when he stayed on Friday night! We are trying to make him realise that they are not a toy.....lol!

23 May, 2010

Same combination of 'varieties' as me...I still have my Tabby cat, but lost my Tortoiseshell about 3 and a half years ago. (She was really my Daughters cat but was left here when Uni beckoned!) She was very small, had been a feral and unwell. My tabby is a big cat, but she was the boss! He relaxed a lot when she was no longer here!
I agree about the chilled atmosphere, good for everyone! It will be good for Jack, I have always had pets around, so my children grew up knowing about respecting other creatures and looking after them...and when they depart it teaches them that side of life too.

:o))

You're quite right there PG. Jac is such a little font of knowledge and is not happy until he has the answers in his little head, bless him. He will ask questions constantly about anything and everything until he can understand things in his own way. He's reading with kids 2 years his senior as well as him and 2 others in the class are way ahead of the rest. He's a star and yes, he does, hopefully, learn a lot from his nanny and Dan about the good things in life as well as the bad things to avoid!

Shame about your Brindle. Always a sad loss when any pet goes but I'm sure you're Tabby still brings you much joy.....

25 May, 2010

yes i love them both, any animals and i go all soft haahah, fed all the cats and dogs on holiday to, even had one dog lay under my sunbed on beach to shade from the midday sun, and the cats use to see my coming for dinner, they got well fed as the food wasnt for human consumption lol ;o))

A warm welcome to Sophie and Maggie from all the many GoY cats including my Daisy who I believe came from the same rescue centre 5 years ago. Although I live in Berkshire our local private rescue centre isn't always full and they sometimes take a batch from the CPS in Swansea - and Daisy was one of these, fortunately for us! I'm sure they'll have a lovely home with you Dan and will give you so much in return. :o))))
