The birds will enjoy them:)

It is quite a weird shrub with upright growth and plain leaves, but from early summer these bracts of deep red are splashed with white starlike flowers which later turn into the berries.......well worth having....:o)

I have the golden form Janey and its dripping with flowers and berries. the stems are unusual in that they are sort of square and bright green!...ain't mother nature clever....:))

Janey , I have to keep pulling these up , there is an area of ground up the road with these shrubs covering it , the birds drop the seed in our garden and they grow so easily ...........

I have one of these now, thanks to Dawn :)
I am looking forward to next year when hopefully it will grow into a beautiful plant with berries like this.

We have this in the garden and it grows very big, have not heard it called Pheasant berry before and have never seen the birds eating the berries either, I think it is a rather spectacular plant, we bought it back from Cornwall over 25 years ago, this is one of its great, great, grandchildren lol

I cut mine down each Spring Dd, so its always a medium sized shrub.....I may leave it next year to see how it grows....:o)

You will be surprised just how big they can get, especially in mild areas, as you say it can be cut down, to keep it manageable.

lovely, such a rich colour ;o)

oh wow Janey - I bought one today - what a gorgeous plant

It's quite unusual Paul.....has White flowers then these berries end of summer. I hope you'll like yours, I'm not too keen on it's growth habit, unless its just mine, it seems to die off each year then send a couple of bamboo like stems up which grow rapidly......I've a feeling it does need a proper prune, and maybe a feed.

28 Dec, 2012

It does claim all this Janey - stems upto 20cm end of season and rapid growth - I love things that look wild and everywhere :D

28 Dec, 2012

You'll have to see how it does, do you know I've seen these mostly in council plantings....into banks, around bus stations and libraries etc.....oh Paul, it's not looking too wild....lol!

28 Dec, 2012

they're lovely - rather like huge grape vines hanging down - mine may look a bit wild though - with the cornus and the kerria to all grow around each other :D
