I was looking it up to identify the one I saw. The silvery blue Glaucopsyche lygdamus. The females have this darker broader border on the wings. She's lovely.

Great shot Holly ! I tried to photograph one in my garden last year and couldn't get close enough without scaring it off - must change my aftershave ...lol :-)

Went across the fields yesterday and saw about 6 very small blue butterflies.

i used to see these a lot when i lived n surrey....

They were in a little cluster and I wondered if they had just all hatched out at the same time.

they could have done... these butterflies remind me of childhood days and running through the fields.....which were full of them..... : O ))

I remember seeing your avatar and just searched through to find this picture, just to see what it was, saw one for the first time ever today, in our garden in Lincolnshire, never seen one in the flesh, aren't they gorgeous the wings are like gauze, of course didn't have my camera :-)
