Rosa 'Caribbean Dawn' (Rosa)

Still producing flowers - this bloom mingled with Hebe 'Heartbreaker' which is just beginning to change its colour.

Lovely!!! Am "up" for anything Caribbean right now! :-)

11 Nov, 2010

ooh it looks lovely and they go together so well!

11 Nov, 2010

Thanks, all.

David - I was lucky. I was looking for two patio roses to go in that little bed, and one of the GCs had them on special offer - two for £7. They've flowered and flowered since I planted them! :-))

very pretty...lovely photo

11 Nov, 2010

Thanks, Elsiemay. After yesterday's gales, I wonder if any of the roses will still have their petals? :-((

12 Nov, 2010

No, it's a very small rose bush - the Garden Centres call them 'Patio roses' and some people grow them in pots.

12 Nov, 2010

they look great together

12 Nov, 2010

Thanks, Holly. :-)))

12 Nov, 2010

I think I know which garden centre you went to Spritz! :o)

12 Nov, 2010

Do you? It was the 'chocolate one'...so you 'could' be wrong there, Sandra!

12 Nov, 2010

What an awesome looking combination Spritz. Love it. :o)

13 Nov, 2010

Thanks, Gilli. Shame the roses will have finished before the Hebe gets its true winter colours!

13 Nov, 2010

very pretty ~ especially in with the hebe

13 Nov, 2010

Thanks. it was a good buy - well, I'll amend that - 'They' were a good buy, as there are two little rose bushes in the bed. :-))

13 Nov, 2010

Now that just takes the biscuit, those colours are such a wonderful combination. I'm almost ready to pull everything out and try again after seeing all your wonderful planting Spritz.

13 Nov, 2010

Oh Bell! Please don't - we all get ideas from each other...but thank you for the compliment. :-))

13 Nov, 2010

Well deserved Spritz, but thanks for the encouragement.

14 Nov, 2010

:-))

14 Nov, 2010

what a lovely combo :o) quite fortuitous.

14 Nov, 2010

Thanks, Sbg. Good old Hebe 'Heartbreaker' - she comes up this lovely colour each year...and even pinker later, if you recall. :-)

14 Nov, 2010

I must think about replacing the ones I lost last winter. they are a very important shrub.

15 Nov, 2010

Yes, I'd agree with that. Have you checked out the Hebe Society website? It's useful in warning you which ones are less hardy.

15 Nov, 2010

Have added this to My Favourites, Spritz, and will check this out. This would look great in my front garden. Just back from a very intensive weekend course in Cardiff!! Gave you and Louise1 a wave from the window as I flew overhead in preparation for landing - really!!! :-D)

15 Nov, 2010

That was kind of you - shame I didn't see you, David! lol.

16 Nov, 2010

As everyone has already said this is a lovely planting combination.
Haven`t tried the patio roses as yet - oh dear the list gets longer.lol.

16 Nov, 2010

I suppose it depends on where you're thinking of growing them. I decided on patio roses because I wanted low-growing plants, low maintenance and lots of flowers. I think many people grow them in pots, and why not? :-)

16 Nov, 2010

I think I remember this rose from an earlier posting Spritz, though it was pretty then..very effective with the Hebe however, gives another dimension. Too much pink would overtake the rose, the variagation sets it all off!

16 Nov, 2010

Thanks. Yes, I posted a photo before - but I like it with 'Heartbreaker' too....I think the gales have blown the petals off this flower, now. :-((

16 Nov, 2010

What a gorgeous combination!

17 Nov, 2010

Yes agree with all Spritz, Theres something about having "the Knack", wonderful combination.

17 Nov, 2010

You're all so kind about my planting - thank you! :-))))))

17 Nov, 2010

What a combo! nicely photographed too!

17 Nov, 2010

Thanks, Lori. :-))))

17 Nov, 2010

:-))) I didn't realise that this is a patio rose, Spritz. Even better for me, without borders/soil. I could grow this in my front garden in a large pot? Am also hoping to get the patio rose "Peter Pan" for next year. :-)

18 Nov, 2010

Yes, you could. I hope you find them both, David! :-)

18 Nov, 2010

I think your 'patio roses' are the same and the miniatures that I've planted. They are wonders of hardiness..tolerate drought as well as 'wet feet' ...will bloom in the cool of late spring and continue through the heat of summer into the autumn dark and cold. They are not expensive to plant and make a show all season...They don't take up a lot of room and give 100% colour and show... I've lifted mine and they are in the care of my cousin at present..but last autumn I just raked the leaves around them and they were fine. The wild bunnies really liked them and gave them a pruning! They left behind some fertilizer and the roses and bunnies coexisted.

Well - thank goodness we don't often get rabbits in the garden, Lori - just an odd one.

Roses seem to thrive in our climate - I don't have to lift them, but you're right, these have flowered for ages. :-))

20 Nov, 2010

I think it's on the 7th page of my pics, I have a pic of the Red Kordana...it's a sizzling orange red...small roses but prolific and gorgeous.

21 Nov, 2010

Thanks - I'll take a look. :-)
