My witch hazel is just starting to break it seems to have been in bud for so long - so much so that I thought it was dying - it is its first year - I have wanted one for ages - they are so beautiful - yours is a lovely plant

Thanks, Marigold. It has only been in the garden for a year, and is still 'blooming'. I love the acid yellow of the little ribbons.

I love Witch Hazel. I have wanted one too, but I do not have space in Ct. garden. So I must look around for ones that are blooming in the neighborhood and pics. So thank you for posting yours. We are in the middle of a snowstorm so must be a bit early for us.

Thank you, Wells. The 'flowers' are still going strong and that makes it six weeks now. They are a such a bonus in the winter.

As you said witch hazel cheers up a dull, grey day. It is the perfect winter plant.

I agree. For weeks on end it has those bright yellow ribbons, starting before anything else is blooming. It just makes me smile.
