I've checked my last photo taken on the 15th Dec. of this same clematis which means it has been in flower for at least 2 months , not bad is it ?

15 Feb, 2012

I had one , Amy , but I think that it disappeared either last winter or in the summer , I had it in a large pot with a small blue one of similar habit . Yours is a joy .
What's happening to Sticki ?

It looks wonderful. I wonder how many degrees of frost it will stand. I'd love one in my garden, but would it be OK in -20 or lower?

17 Feb, 2012

Hi , Amy, our little Ted is more than likely to be our one and only grandchild , our daughter's son .
They moved to Stoke Holy Cross last year ( just outside Norwich ).
Sounds like you are having fun with your two !

Hello Chris . we had a -16 recently and you can see that the Clem stood up to that temp . it might be safe for you to try it ....mine is on an open trellis you might find it survives better in a spot that is a little more sheltered ..
Driad , Stoke H.C. is the other side of Norwich we are 13 miles this side , I'm pleased that you were able to see Little Ted did they stay for the day or longer ? grandchildren are so special aren't they ! we took our two down to wells on sea yesterday for a long walk along the beach and back through the woods they loved it ,they picked up lots of shells for me to put on the top of garden pots ..:o)
Thanks Sue I think this has to be a favourite ,spot on for this time of the year .........

You have such lovely plants in your garden Amy - I have turned all sorts of shades of green looking at your beautiful photos! Pleased to say I managed to find one of these in Morrisons - mixed in with all the climbers for £1.79 just the other day- So no excuse at that price for anyone to not have one is there???

Thank you Poppy that is kind of you ,I am deff. going to put Morrisons on my list for today I will be passing so will go in to look at their plants ,I have had them from there before and been happy with them , I never pay huge amounts for plants I'm always worried that they will die , I will if it's something special or I have gift vouchers then it's a treat .. :o))

22 Feb, 2012

Its well worth a look Amy. I also bought quite a few oriental lilies (3 for £1) The bulbs are not huge, so I may not get alot of flowers this year but thought I would feed them up and have enough to cut - maybe next year. Happy shopping Amy.

22 Feb, 2012

I nearly ordered this one for my pergola Amy (when its built) then realised it was winter flowering :( I love it. Thanks for the nod poppyL about morrisons, ill go look for one at the weekend..

It's always worth buying in advance Poppy ,sometimes even if you buy larger bulbs or plants they don't always flower in the first year anyway ...
Its nice if you can plant a winter flowering one where you are most likely to see it in the winter YDD ,if it's a long way from the house you will not see it so much in bad weather like we've had this year .. I'm going to Morrison on my way home this afternoon , it's a good thing we don't all go to the same shop :o))

22 Feb, 2012

Morrisons would be really pleased if you all did, ((: wish we had something remotely like it...

Went in there this afternoon and came out with two plants , when I think how much the 'Freckles ' was in a garden centre a couple of years ago it's amazing how cheap they are in Morrisons ,I bought a Passion flower which looks to be white ~ I haven't googled it yet ! also a Clematis Vyvyan pennell , a pretty double mauve one , both £1.79 each ........

22 Feb, 2012

Well done Amy, glad you got yourself some bargains! It doesnt matter too much even if you loose them (not that you would) at that price!!
I gave up trying to grow the large flowered ones a few years ago - they always got clematis wilt and died on me. Since Ive joined Goy, Ive been inspired to have another go, but I still dont want to waste £16 on a large plant that may not do very well, so these small ones are just ideal.

I went back in to get another 'Freckles' today Poppy couldn't resist it being so cheap but I do wish I hadn't bought the white Passion flower yesterday because some one told me this morning that they are not winter hardy and are only suitable for a conservatory, never mind I will cover it with something next winter and hope for the best !
