Thank you everyone for your kind comments , It did take a long time Grandmage but I enjoyed working on it, .. A bowl of decorated Easter eggs won ,I suppose that was more in keeping for this time of the year .........

Brilliant I would have said a 1st,dont really see how you can compare it with Easter eggs how ever well they are decorated. But thats showing for you!.

Thanks Brian it all depends on the judge of the day / Sheila I'm trying :o) Carole ,I do have a lot of patience when it comes to this kind of thing , San it took ages ,but funnily enough I missed doing it when it was finished ......

can understand that Amy, but when you see what you have achieved and like what you see, you then want to do more, nice to pass winter months on with :o))

Agree with everyone Amy, you should've won 1st! Incredible sewing, you'd think it was the painting! I know what you mean about finishing something you've enjoyed doing, it's therapeutic and takes you anywhere doesn't it. I sometimes feel like that after reading a really good book, you feel quite lost after reading the end and miss the people you've got to know....so pleased you've shared it with us...:))))).

San I do feel pleased when I look at it , Thanks Janey I'm glad you like it , I wanted to do another Lowry 'Free style' stitch but have been unable to find another pattern , I even wrote to the makers of this one but they only do cross stitch , I always feel like that when I've finished a good book Janey ,I always want to follow it up somehow to see what happened next !
Thanks Kathy , I don't care what the judges think , It's on my wall not theirs LOL... ..

I thought it was a painting, well worth a first Amy, I am rubbish at sewing, so can appreciate all the hard work that went in to this.....
5 Apr, 2012
Thanks Angela , apparently someone else at the show commented that they thought it was a painting until they looked closely .. I'm o.k with sewing but wouldn't ever be able to draw a picture .......

Agree with what you and Janey say about reading a book: love it when you find one you're enjoying so much that you don't want it to end, but then you want it to go on . . .

That's beautiful, Amy. I can appreciate how much work went into that as I did a similar cross stitch many years ago now. Unfortunately it was damaged during my last move, then left in the shed where it was attacked by goodness knows what! Enjoy it :)

Amy this is fab, excellently done..I love Lowry and I have seen this painting at Manchester City Gallery many times..this and others by Lowry at that period were influenced by a French painter, and his teacher, Adolphe Valette, whose work is also is in the same gallery in Manchester..perhaps somewhere there are 'free style' patterns of his work..I particularly like one titled 'Old Cab at All Saints'..

You are kind Skips , thank you , I would love to see the real painting , perhaps I will be in Manchester one day ! I would love to do another ' Lowry ' long stitch and have written to Bothy Threads who supplied the pattern for this one hoping they could help but no! the only other ones they have in Long stitch are flowery ones which I'm not that keen on as pictures .. .. they did say it was possible that an older shop selling their goods may have one at the back of a shelf somewhere I often go into an embroidery shop to ask , but no luck . , I like the old cab as well , if you see a long stitch of it on your travels ,would you please let me know where it is so that I can contact them ,thanks . ........
