Thanks everyone , it's not far from us Sticki we do have some wonderful fields of Poppies the area near the coast is called Poppy land .... the farmers aren't always happy as they have a job to separate the poppy seed from other crops .. as soon as I see a field I have to head towards it there are so many beautiful wild flowers growing amongst them as well as the poppies ..

Funny how we associate one thing with another isn't it Carol ? It was full of buzzy insects and butterflies Carole , Oh Yes San ,I haven't seen that for ages perhaps I should don my best frock and floppy hat and drape myself in the field holding a Flake LOL ...

I know what you mean Tet , I could see this field in the distance and had to go up the little side roads to reach it , it sort of draws you towards it you don't feel happy until you are standing in the field :o))

Fields of poppies are an incredibly evocative sight to me; it's what I think of when I think of the countryside - fields of golden corn and fields of scarlet poppies. lol some of that might also be because of the old Cadbury's Flake advert! but they also are indelible linked with war, especially WW1 - we read "In Flanders Fields", by John McRae, at school and I've never forgotten that. I looked in vain for "poppies" on some US gardening sites until I found out that they call them "Flanders Poppies"
